Tianfu Youth Hostel

I have lived in China for 4 years now, traveling around the country on my holidays. I have stayed in countless hostels in China and staying at Tianfu was a pleasant stay after being on the road for a week in Henan province. The past reviews weren't great, but they were also outdated so I rolled the dice and booked a private room. The location has changed since the previous reviews in 2013 and the hostel is under new management. The location is great-adjacent to the Bao Gong lake, 5 minute walk from the history museum, 10 minute walk from Kaifeng's famous night market, and a short taxi ride to the main attractions. If you follow the canal near the hostel it leads you on a nice walk past bridges and newly built Chinese architecture. The main lobby is cozy with good WIFI, and the receptionist gave me a free cup of coffee(instant) this morning. The staff are very helpful in recommending restaurants and sights and helped with directions. The room was 120 RMB a night with two double beds. It was clean and simple with working AC/heat. The bed was actually comfortable-not your standard hard wood board. Overall my stay was really nice and I recommend staying here Make sure to go to the dumpling place around the corner which has Xiao Long Bao Enjoy!
