voco Guangzhou Shifu by IHG

I stayed at voco Shifu during my business-leisure trip to Guangzhou, and it turned out to be a fantastic choice. The location is excellent — right at the gateway to an authentic Chinese neighborhood, just steps away from the famous pedestrian street and must-try local spots like Tao Tao Ju. The area is full of culture and charm, with goldfish sellers, birds, and vibes that reminded me of Bangkok’s Yaowarat. It’s also within walking distance of several textile and wholesale markets, making it perfect for sourcing trips. Breakfast was plentiful and well done — I loved the hot soup, fresh lychees, and the surprisingly good pancakes! Service was way above expectations. The staff were not only friendly and fluent in English, but also emotionally intelligent — something I truly appreciated during a stressful rainy day with traffic and business pressure. Special thanks to Jan and Manager Kevin, who were both exceptionally kind and helpful — though honestly, every single staff member was lovely. Everyone, male and female staff alike, remained calm, professional, and genuinely caring. The free perks and little extras were just the cherry on top. voco Shifu may not look luxurious from the outside, but the experience inside is worth far more than the price.
