If you're looking for a place to stay that's not noisy at Otres Beach #1, walk 15 minutes to the rocky outcrop. It's 65 steps to the top and that's where you'll find 12 - 15 cabinas, all facing the sea. With the breeze that swoops over this point you're not likely to need AC. And on the beach, right by the steps, these people own a very good restaurant. Try the fried noodles and vegetables. They add a nice little spicy touch to it.

Great place

Beautiful breeze and good food

Perched on a hilltop overlooking Otres Beach this off the beaten track place - although a touch shoddy inside - appears immaculate. But wait until the joint called Otres Corner - Last Hippie Standing thinks you're asleep. They crank up the volume just after midnight, and then, at Queen Hill Resort, it makes you fell asthough you're staying in a highly amplified speaker box. The boom boom base continues until after seven in the morning. Guests stay for only one night, and when they leave they want to say they're sorry to the Queen Hill owners, because surely won't be around next year if the 'Otres Corner - Last Hippie Standing' is allowed to continue with what they are doing. The government really needs to put a stop to the goings on at Otres Corner - Last Hippie Standing.  

The Queen Hill Restaurant, on the beach, just below the resort can be a hit, but it's far too often a miss. Sometimes the cook is there, sometimes she isn't. If you're lucky enough to get served - you've got a 40 - 60 chance - try the fish amok. It often comes in a coconut shell where you can scrape the tenderly soft meat off the inside of the shell. Also, the fruit shakes are excellent and the cocktails are top-notch. 

It's too bad they can't get a handle on the 'open' and 'closed' concept.

Sadly, this place likely won't exist next year

To us $15 for a bungalow seemed expensive but walking around - even as far as Otres Village - we realised this was good value for the area. Bungalow is basic but comes with mosquito net, toiletries & a lovely balcony with hammock and great sea views. The bungalows aren't too close together which is a plus! Unfortunately quite noisy at night due to bars the other side of the bay & music doesn't end til 4am but in general this end of otres beach is much more quiet & peaceful than elsewhere on otres beach. Only a short walk to the other bars / restaurants on the beach - the food at queens hill restaurant was very standard with no atmosphere & there's definitely better places to eat further along the beach. 

Good value for area

Really good location, quiet during the day, and friendly staff, but the rooms are not kept properly. The wood seems to be rotting, one plank I walked on almost broke. also at night you hear all the music from the neighbouring beaches, that s not nice.
