Billabong Hostel

Though this is by far, my very favourite place to reside whenever in Phnom Penh, what just happened this evening cannot be left un mentionned....! Dont misunderstand me, the staf there is generally very considerate and friendly. Yet I cannot tolerate rude behavior such has was the case this evening. Let me first explain that I am physically handicapped and often in need of help if only to carry my shopping. For the past ten years or so, I have been sponsorising several families here in Phnom Penh including one of four chldren now aged 17, 14 11, and 9 years old. This afternoon I took them ll shopping for their New Year Celebration, and while at ir, did a bit of shopping on my own. Upon returning to the Billabong, these four children along with their Mom and Dad, helped me back to my room bringing along my own shopping. As we passed the reception, I vaguely heard the reception clerck tell my driver something aboutt children not being allowed in the hotel. This is not my irst stay here and I AM FULLY AWARE OF THE HOSTEL POLICY CONCERNING CHILDREN. So i paid no attention to what was being said and continued on to my room where these four youngsters took all my shopping. Barely five minute later, just as they were all bidding me goodbye and thanking me for their afternoon shopping, my room hone rang. it turned out to be that same clerck complaining about my not respecting hotel policy. NOW JUST HOW RUDE CAN YOU GET !!! ??? Had they been in my room for some twenty minutes or even ten, I might have understood, but this was NOT THE CASE as their fathers vehicle was doubled parked outside and they had just come to bring in my shopping !!!! A word of advice to that clerck concerning basic "Courtoisie" seems highly recommended !!! Otherwise this is truly a pure little paradise to stay in while in PP. As owner myself of three small Bungalow Hotels in Thailand, I know exac(ly what Im talking about ;-)
