Wonderful and peaceful place. Nice views for sundowners. Bring your own wine and beer since they don’t sell any.

perfect place, quiet and close to the park, the cabin is well equipped, comfortable beds, enough equipment for the kitchen, it is heavenly quiet, the park is quickly accessible, we saw many animals

Excellent campsite and facilities

Highlight was birding with Stone , a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic bird guide 

The cottages and the whole campsite are very neatly and nicely kept. They are equipped with the basics needed for cooking. Having an outdoor shower was rather exotic! When you get here you really feel like you have gotten away from it all. I was glad for the air conditioning in November, and the daily room service. We enjoyed watching the sunset from the deck overlooking the floodplain. The main highlight for my husband as a birdwatcher was meeting “Stone,” a guide who took us on bird-watching walks. Stone is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful.  He has a passion for birds, and it shows. In 3 days my husband was able to record 115 species of birds. We would enjoy coming back.

I stayed at Muchenje cottages for 5 nights in December 23 and had a wonderful time. Haydn is extremely helpful as are all of his staff. The cottages are well appointed with everything you need for self-catering and the beds are very comfortable. As birders, myself and my friends spent most of our time with the resident bird guide, Stone, who is an extraordinary guide and knows every bird and bird sound in the area. We had a fabulous trip and will be going back soon as 5 days was not enough. the area is rich with biodiversity as Chobe is right next door, an unspoiled paradise and Victoria Falls is a day trip.


We went for a guided walking tour with Stone in the early morning. This guy is a real luminary in his field and his incredibly knowledgeable especially about birds.
He tought us so much about the animals around and the about his Homecountry. We learned a lot and enjoyed chatting with him.

Camping and safari on the river Chobe to observe the animals. Excellent sundowns drinking a beer on the camping deck. Dinner in the garden's cottage under a superlative starry sky. Thank you very much for the wonderful hospitality

The place is a gem with a beautiful view over the Chobe river bed.
Of particular joy was a guided tour given by a young bird expert Mr Stone Mazila. He knew every bird by its call and showed us the rare finds in the area.
The camp is very well run and the pool clean.
It is definitely my choice on the chobe river if you want amenities with out the crowds of Kasane.

Muchenje has been such a pleasure . From the beginning of your booking process . The directions are very clear and helpful. The views are all equally amazing , all staff are friendly and it’s a very peaceful place .

Neat Place with Over 100 Bird Species and Amazing Bird Guide

Wodnerful stay at Muchenje cottages

our campsite was spacious, shaded had a good view and was fitted with everything we needed: braai stand, water/kitchen stand, power plug point
The reception was warm and friendly, really nice and informative hosts.
Ablutions were sufficient and clean. Only the shower heads were clogged and need cleaning.

Pool is good for cooling down, viewing deck offers suberb view over floodplains and little shop helps if you forgot anything. There is a hot water - coffee- microwave station for those who are not fully equipped and wifi is really good. Our stay was quiet and you only here the sound of nature after sunset

We enjoyed one of our first night of the trip in Muchenje and came back again at the end of our journey - a perfect base for exploring the Chobe

Next time we would try out one of the birding tours - must be excellent!

Peace tranquility with an expert bird guide

wonderful campsite with pool and view

this was an awesome camp with beautiful campsites and very clean bathrooms.
The management was very helpful and friendly.
Will gladly recommend to other campers.  The overall experience was awsome.
They also had a laundry service and was very professional.  Their shop was stocked, and fresh veggies was supplied by their own gardens on the premises.  What a great idea.

Great stay with Muchenje campsites and Cottages

Well laid out campsite near Kasane and Chobe NP park gate. Campsites have power points and sinks, and are kept clean by the efficient yet low profile staff team. Laundry service also available. There is a small pool and a nice viewing deck looking over the floodplain, and the reception has wifi and a small some for essentials. You do need to be aware of the monkeys as they do steal stuff, but this is Africa! Although its outside the park we did hear lions roaring at night. I'd stay again when visiting Chobe NP.

Lovely, well organised campsite

The place is really peaceful. The staff very available. They helped us booking our last minute activities in Chobe and gave e us a lot of useful information.
Only thing to be improved : light in the camping. Once the sun is down we didn't have any electricity to see, cook and do other things. We had to use our torch

Very good place

We took 2 x cottages at Muchenje Campsite & Cottages in October 2022. Haydn was a perfect host and the cottages were well equipped, clean and very comfortable. They have a wonderful vegetable garden and one can purchase fresh salad ingredients from their shop which is very well stocked!
We thoroughly enjoyed our 8 night stay....thank you Haydn.
