Got picked up from the port, walked up the mountain accompanied by young and charming teenager that takes care of our slow pace due to altitude.
The hotel is a house among the highest of the island. Rooms are basic and small, but clean and facing the east for most part, that allows you to enjoy sunrise if no fog on the lake. Issue with the wifi that couldn't work, but no problem has we were only staying one night, and the service was of good advice.
If you walk through the propriety for 50 meters, you can see a wonderfully view of the west part of the lake, for sunset.
We enjoyed especially the diner and breakfast, all excellent and included in the price, that made the overall price of the venue very descent.
Enjoyed the place, very recommended for people looking for competitive price. Otherwise we saw an ecolodge with is wonderful on the island, for higher standing and prices called La Estancia.

Top of the island peaceful room

I came to isla del Sol for a week in order to rest, contemplate the beauty of the place, read and meditate. I stayed 5 nights at the hostal del sol, and i found so much beaty and peace. The hostal is perfectly located at the top of the island, so you get both sunrise and sunset from there, no need to get anywhere, you are at the right place. The family who runs it has been so kind to me, taking care of me, and cooking amazing dishes for breakfast and diner. I was looking for peace, and I found it there. The room was clean, spacious, and the bed very comfortable. I was using a common bathroom with warm water. Wifi is on and off on the island but you don't come all the way there to check your phone! The visual is breathtaking, and I can't wait to come back.

Best hostal on the island

We stayed here two nights in a twin bedroom. Here my pros and cons:

Pro:

+ The view from the hostel is amazing. Our room had three windows from each one you could see the lake.

+ The beds were big abd had lots of blankets

+ we had a private toilet

+ everything was very clean

+ it was very quiet

+ they organized us a carrier for our bags down to the harbour  ( 20 Bolivieros per bag ~3€)

Cons:

- the water sometimes didn't work

- the hostel prescription said something about included breakfast, but there was none

- the promised Wifi didn't work most of the time

Summary:

It was alright and for 203 Bolivieros for a twin bedroom not expensive but because of the three quite important contras I can only give 3 stars.

A pleasant stay, but not extraordinary 

Rooms are very basic, somewhat clean, rooms are on the cold side, and the view is comparable to many other hostals on the island. VERY expensive for the quality and nicer hostals cost less. This property is located 30-40 minutes from the port at the top of the hill and its all uphill. There was slow internet, but it didnt work in the rooms, you had to stand outside behind the building to get a signal. I contacted the hostal via email before my stay about directions and arranging a donkey porter, but didnt receive a response.  The hostal is a bit hard to find and there are no signs once at the top of the hill about which side streets to take. In fact, one side of the building has the name of a previous hostel, which was confusing when trying to find the property.  Would not stay again and would recommend booking at another property if staying overnight on the island.

Disappointing Stay with Average Views

Bed with used sheets, hair in the bathroom, cold shower, no curtains in the bathroom, dirty floor, cold rooms and no wifi (as promised). We booked 2 nights in this hotel and we wanted to leave right away on the first night. We had to sleep in our sleeping bag because it seems more hygienic. Yes the view is nice, but 90% of the house in isla del sol have a great view! This is one of the few place that is listed online, if i had to go back i wold just walk in in the many hostal and choose a better (and likely cheaper) place.
