The hotel made us very welcome, it was ideal for us travelling with two dogs and we stayed in the ground floor room of the tower.
It was ideal to exercise the dogs in the large garden, very peaceful with just the sound of the birds.
The tree houses look great fun, especially for children to stay.

During a multiple country trip to Europe we had the good fortune to stay at the Moulin de Lisogne in Belgium. Located near the town of Dinant, about an hour away from Brussels and two hours from Brugges, the moulin is off the beaten path, while still being close enough to the big cities for day trips. The hotel itself was recently purchased and renovated by a new owner and had only been open for about two weeks before our visit. 

The location of the hotel is very picturesque with a creek running through the property and plenty of trees. A large sunny patio and adjacent grassy area provide a perfect location to play games or relax with a drink in the afternoon. 

The hotel offers standard guest rooms as well as a few tree house cabins. We opted to stay in a tree house and the experience was fantastic. The one room cabin accommodated two beds, a table and chairs, a refrigerator, and shower/toilet “rooms”. The beds were extremely comfortable and the trunk of a tree running up through the middle of the cabin added a fun rustic element. One word of caution, although the toilet and shower areas are protected from view, they are not true rooms. Thus while fine for couples or families, you might want to opt for a traditional room if you wish to be very private with your bathroom activities.

Breakfast was included in the cost of the room for us and was quite a lavish spread compared to other European breakfasts. Traditional croissants and rolls with jam, deli meat and cheese were present as well as an assortment of fresh and dried fruits, cereals, a make your own omelet station, and the ability to freshly squeeze the juice of your choice.

We opted to eat in the hotel restaurant for dinner on one of the nights. We ordered both from the prix fixe menu (35 euros, 50 with wine pairings) and a la carte (about 25 euros for an entrée).  The food was very good and the portions generous. A bonus for us (Californians), the meals all included ample and varied vegetables.

Overall our stay was one of the highlights of the trip. The staff was friendly and nice. The owner is fluent in English, and while I can’t comment on the English of the rest of the staff, they were definitely very accommodating about indulging me in my broken French. I highly recommend the Moulin de Lisogne.

We arrived at this hotel on a Sunday evening to find the door locked. Our hearts sank as we'd booked an overnight stay here en route to the Black Forest. We needn't have been concerned, the locking of the door was a mistake for which the hotel were most apologetic and after a quick phone call we were in. We were the only guests in the hotel that night as slightly off season but nevertheless we were made to feel extremely welcome. We had a lovely room in the water tower, the hotel cooked an amazing meal for us in the evening with an excellent bottle of the house wine and the breakfast they put on would have kept us going for several days. We can't thank the hotel staff enough for looking after us so well. 

We had a great stay here! The mill is nicely restored and very close to Dinant. The tree houses are so sweet and the smurf house for the children a great spot to play in the garden. Very welcoming staff and good breakfast. Only down sides: the beds were not super comfortable and we had to pay the baby bed 10 euros a day even if before they said it was for free. The staff barely speaks English or any language otehr than French like in the whole Wallonia!

Great experience to sleep here. You can stay in het normal hotel or You can choose a tree house! The sleep in a treehouse is a great experience. Very nice surroundings also: garden, small river, lots of trees, whisteling birds, ... Breakfast is also very good. Little bit expensive though because the treehouse we had had only a bed (nice bed to sleep in by the way), a toilet and a washing table. No shower and no tv. Price to pay for 1 night is 134 euros (city tax included) and that is a bit expensive if You don't have a shower. But still a very nice experience.

Wonderful nature, great place from the 12th century with tree houses you can sleep in!

Peaceful and relaxing hotel

2 nights = a serious waste of money! Have been in several treehouses before, and this one is just way below average! 
Treehouse itself was very old and needed fixing - would never take kids on, as fences and deck are not safe.  

It was very dirty (and I wouldn't have minded the spiderwebs as its antreehouse, but it was obviousely not cleaned for a loooong while!). (See picture)

Room and beds smelled and were so damp it felt like you were sleeping in a smelly steamroom. After the 1st night sleep (or no sleep), I had a really bad cough, as my lungs get irritated easily from moldy rooms. 

You have no privacy in neither the toilet nor shower as they are see-through, so don't suggest to go with someone you are not 100% comfy with seeing, hearing and smelling your toilet moments. Toilet smelled strongly like pee. Shower floor is very slippery! I used one of their small towels to stand on as it is a deathtrap!

Breakfast was very bad! For 2 people you get 3 tiny rolls, and 4 tiny pastry things that weren't even baked long enough. Sides were for sure reused from other guests before and unhygienic to say the least. Coffee pads from Aldi/Lidl for the senseo are given only with breakfast at 8:45 - so an early hike before breakfast - bring your own coffee! The 10€/ person was for sure not worth what you get as what they give for 2 is just enough for 1 (if that person can deal with the lack of hygiene of this breakfast). Luckily I brought my own fruit, muesli and milk in a fridgebox you can plug in. (No fridge in the room)

Walk around the premises: tracks are not maintained and a big tree even blocked the passage completely at the very beginning. Bring a machetti if you wanna explore the premises 🤣

During our stay, the gardener thought it was a good idea to use his grass machine loudly for over 2hrs long while we were trying to enjoy a quiet morning... this could have been done in the afternoon maybe?

Dinant is walking distance, but a ghost town! A lot of the shops and reataurants clearly didn't survive COVID and the city is pretty much abbandoned. Sad as I remember it being very nice 10 years ago.

For sure the 180€/night and 10€/person for breakfast is way overpriced, and there is way better treehuts in the South of Belgium than this one! Cheaper, cleaner, better service and for sure in a nicer area!

Saw more reviews with similar info as mine, and wish I would have read them before going, as they are all true!
