Hotel Alpenhof

We went on a family trip over Christmas in 2024, I researched where to stay massively as the hotel was going to be my biggest expensive, myself and my 3 teenage daughters I chose Alpenhof for the location, not too far from Innsbruck, on the hintertux glacier where you are guaranteed snow and the quality of the hotel and its facilities Anyhow i was not disappointed, the hotel arranged to pick us up from nearby train station, as we got further and further into the mountain thick snow was falling, we arrived at the Hotel and it was like a winter wonderland Inside the hotel was beautifully made out for Christmas, had a warm welcome and then shown to our rooms, both rooms were huge, 3 daughters in one room, bed each and one room for me. Huge bathroom with shower and bath Immaculately clean btw The food is incredible, i have eaten at michelin starred restaurants and its on a par with these, we had like 7 course meals every evening. Christmas eve was 9 courses! You get the same table every morning and dinner which is great, breakfast is huge buffet of literally everything you can think off, you can even make your own juices They also have chef cooking up bacon, eggs etc for you The evening meal is a real experience, i wished we had packed more suitable clothes as most guests were dressed smartly, or smart casual, my daughters had nothing much but joggers etc They also had kinder buffet which had nice stuff like chicken strips, pizza, chips etc for people where the food is perhaps a little too elaborate In afternoon from 1-5pm is lovely buffet in bar area, with soups, pasta etc Most people are skiing like us but when we got back around 4pm we had something Also one day at 12ish we asked at bar and the owners son (all the familly work there) just asked chef to cook us something and we had it in like 15 minutes This is family owned, this is important because every aspect of the hotel is immaculately looked after and cared for from different generations of this local Austrian family. The Christmas eve event was magical, in traditional outfits around a Christmas tree their small children lit the candles on the tree, sang Silent night in German etc Was just magical honestly, so Christmassy and what we loved even if we was dressed like English slobs and everyone else was dressed like a night at the opera, I was a bit embarrassed but no one made me feel bad For skiing there is a but metres away that takes you to ski lift, takes literally 5 mins if that, comes every 5 mins as well Downstairs there is ski locker which you can enter and exit using your room pass, so no need to trudge through main entrance You get a locker per room with heater boot area etc The spa area is amazing, outdoor heated pool with jacuzzi loungers, in -5 weather snow on ground its amazing to relax on them Indoor pool, loungers, sauna and steam room etc Their is separated 'naked' area which has even more sauna and steam room stuff going on, like really incredible facilities like you get in top London deluxe spa (i know cos i been to them) Also to be honest this area is naked but most people are in towels and only when inside the actual sauna do they strip off, if at all Its all very reserved and nice The staff at the entire place are incredible, lot of family work there as well as others. Ive spent ages writing this ha, but honestly its that good, I think we was only English there to be honest which is good or bad I dont know, maybe good. Its just an incredible experience, this is a refined place but not stuffy or fussy, the evening meal in particular is incredible, many courses, usually small but very tasty. I found the skiing really good, we was beginners, so had some lessons, rented gear at place near ski lift. The whole area is incredibly beautiful, i bet in summer and spring its as nice to visit to walk and explore Anyhow this is amazing place, owned and run by a lovely and attentive family, thats what made it special.
