Fernerblick Apartments

My wife and I spent 10 nights in Fernerblick Apartments January 2108. What an incredible value, not to mention exceptional convenience. Our 1 bedroom apartment was a bit small, but given the amenities like a balcony with beautiful views of the Zillertal Valley, the proximity to the Hinterux Glacier and ability to cook many or our own meals, the small space never was an issue. Then there are Andrea and Dominick Neuner along with their son and Andrea's parents. All these wonderful people embody all the greatness of the real Austrian people: interesting, warm, friendly, helpful, fun-loving, respectful of the land etc. Fernerblick sits above the small village of Hintertux and affords more than beautiful views of Hintertux and the glacier at night. One can literally walk to the glacier from Fernerblick but be prepared for a short but steep climb on the way back. Wifi was strong throughout the apartment and the entire building as was cell reception. Fernerblick is about an hour and a half drive from Innsbruck's Kranebitten airport with only 2 turns once on the A12. Upon exiting the autobahn Mayrhofen exit, the Zittertal Valley just becomes overwhelmingly beautiful. The entire valley is sparsely inhabited but has all amenities and services one can require. The beauty and magnitude of the mountains and valley are just remarkable. We took several different lifts to see different aspects of the mountains. What a great idea that was! Hintertux itself has a small market that is open only during certain hours of the day. The nearest full market is in Landesburg, about 7-10 minutes to the north. There are several excellent restaurants in Hintertux and many in the surrounding area within 10-12 minutes drive. Andrea and Dominick are both so incredibly helpful and speak beautiful English. Both are quite knowledgeable of the area and can provide very helpful advice on what to do, when, where and how. Fernerblick has a variety of accommodations which all are quite reasonably priced. It does tend to book up February-March, so best to make arrangements early. We will definitely return to Fernerblick in the very near future and look forward to making it a regular on our must continue to do list.
