Landhaus St. Georg

I have visited Saalbach hinterglemm on manu occasions and stayed in the most expensive hotels and budget appartments. By booking Landhaus St Georg i could take my two boys and parents but not be utterly ripped off by holiday companies. 1. Location- though the property is 4 minutes drive from Hinterglemm we loved the remote location and it had a far more winterly feel, with more snow left on the ground than Saalbach. The bus stop is only a 2 minute walk so you can get to the ski lifts in minutes and as its the start the run the bus is empty. The owners brother runs a hotel next door that has its own junior slope that is free to use so if you're teaching young children this can save you £s.. If you want to take advantage of the great apres Ski in Saalbach you can do and get a cab for approx 25 euro (15 from Hinterglemm). 2. Landhaus st.georg We were given a warm welcome by Renate the owner and the hospitality lasted the whole week. The rooms were typical Austrian style with a balcony with a lovely view. The cleanliness was excellent with lovely beds, pillows and sheets with the rooms cleaned daily. Breakfast was traditional Austrian buffet with fresh rolls, cheese, eggs, cereal etc. It was delicious. Renate brought my boys hot chocolate every morning and the whole feel was really a home from home. If you want you can eat at the very nice hotel next door that also has a bar you can use. Book as one evening we were turned away which was really annoying as we had to drive to find food and I'm sure they could have been more accommodating. If as we did you hire a car parking is plentiful right outside. If booking flights separately i would advise on hiring a car as Austrian roads are very good as are the driving standards with people sticking to speed limits. Its also cheaper than getting the ski shuttle from the airport. 3. Would we go back? Most definitely, we had a wonderful week at St. Georg and Renate runs a wonderful, clean guest house in my favourite place in the world! I booked thinking of it being skiing on a tight budget and ended up really loving it!
