Gasthof Goldener Ochs

Stayed in Blue River Suite 421. Best position in the hotel directly about the River Traun. Very new building very well done. Was very impressed- ceiling is 5m & the balcony was just gorgeous. I arrived out of hours unexpectedly on Sunday night & this was quickly accommodated. Couldn’t fault the room at all - was way better than I expected. Only ate breakfast- staff were extremely friendly. Large selection- I would have preferred bacon & eggs cooked to order not left in warmers but there was plenty of choice. The spa area was very nice - not as good as Eurothermen where I stayed before but perfectly nice. I had 2 massages with Mr Katzer & he was outstanding- the best massages I’ve had & I’ve has a lot! The position of Goldener Ochs is superb & particularly the new addition which is where the suites are. Only negative is that on the other side of the bridge there is a bar & all the teenagers congregate there & were unreasonably loud until very late. I did complain about this at checkout. Obviously this isn’t the hotels fault but it should be addressed. This is only an issue in good weather & if you are in a suite on the front. In the main building this wouldn’t be an issue. I will definitely go back- the friendly staff really added to this hotel but you can’t beat the position- best position in Bad Ischl for a hotel in my opinion. Very impressed- a lot better than expected. Eurothermen was worse than expected on my last trip( apart from its spa) so this was a pleasant surprise to love this place so much. Covid measures in place BUT at breakfast utensils being used by everyone. This seems ludicrous & not very well thought out. Everyone could just use their own cutlery.
