Haus Bergblick

If you’re lucky enough to get a room at Haus Bergblick, try to be there on a Sunday. Brigitte bakes a cake every Sunday for her family, and guests like us became lucky beneficiaries. We were treated to a savory rhubarb cake, which was just one of many instances of the warm, generous and tasteful atmosphere at this lovely venue. Brigitte was responsive to our every need, not only providing accommodations as cozy as an Austrian down comforter, but also helping with transportation and excellent info regarding the community, services, activities and restaurants of Fuschl am See. Attention to detail makes a big difference to travelers like us, and Brigitte brings that care and attention to everything she does, both in the management of the pension and the refreshing and artful atmosphere of the rooms. The Pension is just outside the main part of the village, so its more than quiet, it’s serene. I could go on about the homemade blackberry jam Brigitte makes and serves for breakfast. Or the honey provided by the beehives on the property. Just know your breakfast will be a delight, the perfect start to a day in the Austrian version of Shangri La. My wife and I are from the California, and we spent a week at Haus Bergblick, hiking in the mountains, swimming in the pristine lake as well as the health club to which we had free access (for the beautiful Olympic-sized, plus pool). Of all the lakes in Salzkammergut, Fuschl is closest to Salzburg. So we also made trips to the big city for concerts and art. We think of Fuschl as the perfect place to unwind and renew. And there is no more hospitable venue to begin that process than at Haus Bergblick. Just try to include a Sunday.
