Zum Verwalter

A charming hotel with a distinct personality of its own. The ambience is sophisticated yet set in a large historic house which has been tastefully and skilfully renovated. 

An ideal place to stay to discover Lake Constance, with a very professional, friendly and pleasant staff. 

Be sure to try the wonderful restaurant. 

After a long drive this was a fabulous way to end the day. A beautifully restored old property just above the centre of Dornbirn and surrounded by other impressive buildings and large family homes of a bygone era. The owners have done a great job of marrying contemporary bedrooms and a modern open kitchen with a stunning traditional wood panelled restaurant and ancient wine cellar. 
Though the restaurant was full that night, we had been lucky in booking the last bedroom and decided to eat in the bistro. Totally delicious - the chef has complete understanding of letting the flavours and textures shine through from his excellent ingredients.  
After a good nights sleep in the very comfortable and simply designed room we had an impressive breakfast of meats, cheeses, an array of delicious bread and yoghurts plus fresh fruit with all the seeds and nuts you could want. 
Well fortified before leaving we strolled into the centre / marketplatz (10mins) to admire some wonderful old buildings. 
If we had stayed longer discovering Lake Constance and taking a ride up the Karrenseilbahn for panoramic views would be on the list. 


Nice hotel in an old house, the staff is really nice and helpful. The breakfast is served with good, fresh products. Our room was big, cosy and modern. Be careful the ceilings are very low ! The prices are reasonable.

The Zum Verwalter is located in a lovely location in an old building. The room was small but decorated in a modern style. The breakfast was amazing with many kinds of cold cut meats, cheeses, breads, fruits, and yogurts. Very friendly staff.

Lovely Location

Disapointing stay overall. Our accomodation on the top floor was an extremely small bedroom with one small window. It had a very low ceiling and became uncomfortably hot at times as there was no a/c. The main business is a restaurant which uses the same entrance and stairs to the accomodation. 
Breakfast was basic. No fruits, yogurts etc on offer. Breakfast coffee was just a cup, no coffee pots and refills were not offered. Found service impersonal.
Requested electric iron but unavailable.
Good points would have to be the location and also availability of parking.
