For pub accommodation it was excellent and very cosy and delicious food available in the pub downstairs. Excellent overall. Wil definitely be staying more often

Pleasantly surprised as expected an old pub type stay with a decent bed but it turned out to be a huge room, lots of history vibes to it. Bed sheets was so comfy, very clean no dust, real private. I would book this place just for a great nights sleep as if I was in a luxury hotel bed. Right across the street from the station and all the restaurants and Woolies across the other side of the station.

Yes the building is old but this is what I loved about it, the charm of an old building is wonderful. It was value for money accommodation, had everything that we needed for our stay, perfect location, staff were super friendly and helpful, walking distance to transpirt and lots of restaurants. Parking was easy enough. If you looking for Budget old-world charm this is definitely the place to stay. Loved it.

It would be easy to be critical of the hotel as it would benefit from a makeover, however at this price point it represents great value in Sydney. It’s basic and old fashioned, but it is clean and spacious and comfortable. The noise issue raised by other reviewers wasn’t an issue for me. I stayed mid week and had room 30 on the second floor at the rear and it was quiet. I would choose to stay there again.

Great Value

The staff were friendly & service was good. The food was fresh & tasty. $15 for a 250g Rump with Salad & Chips was good value. All cooked fresh. There were a range of other reasonably priced meals also available.
The Hotel has seen quite a few summers but the decor is modern and in good condition. 
I asked about Off Street Parking & was given a parking space near the bottle shop & there were security cameras to keep a watch on mine and other vehicles. 
When I did get to my room there was a clean towel, soap and "Ear Plugs" & I thought I was in for a loud night - I didn't need the ear plugs. For some the lights outside my room may be an issue but not for me.
My room had a heather but the bed was warm and comfortable. When next I need a bed in or near Strathfield I'll be booking a room at Whelan's Strathfield Hotel.

Clean & Comfortable, Cold beer & great food.

Good price, good location, good service. But it was a bit cold a night and there wasn’t a spare blanket in the room.

Everything was fantastic on the day of arrival!Check in was easy, the female staff were very polite and helpful. I dined in and that experience was also great!Sadly, when I checked out, things did not go so well.

Reasonable condition pub accommodation. My room had toilet/basin ensuite which was a bonus as rooms are shared facilities. Shared hot shower standing in a bath was fine. Good linen and towels and toiletries. Near excellent transport hub; Strathfield station.

o The hotel was convenient to transport and comfortable.

It is good for the price. I would say great, but the lightbulb in the bathroom does not work and I have no access to my own balcony.
