To be honest when I first walked into room5 I thought " this is not a deluxe room" too small, old fashioned, smallest shower cubicle anywhere in my 25 day ride around the country but it is, within small country town restraints.   Has microwave, toaster, crockery, cutlery, a bonus as most Australian motels dont.Had tissues, flyspray, decent hot water  and pressure. Helpful bloke, apart from downside of no real milk, at reception. Walking distance to Orbost Club, great meal there!  Handed key tag to room and it states licensed restaurant on premises but not so. Would  stay here again


Better than appearances

A decent sleep. Dinner is available at the club a couple of blocks away, and a few places on the main street a but further. No breakfast served. Not a lot to say about Orbost - the town has seen better days and the main street is pretty derelict. Maybe better to stay down at the beach, which is only 10 km away.

A standard old-fashioned motel...

Management were helpful with accommodating me last minute upon arrival in Orbost. As it was early evening during school holidays the motel was almost full. 
I managed to secure the last available room, a spa suite.
Room was bright, very clean & safe and secure for a female solo traveller en route to NSW south coast.
This room looks to have undergone an update since other photos posted above.
Comfy bed with crisp fresh linen, reverse cycle air con/heating, Large wall mounted tv, kitchenette, sofa, small 2 seater table.
Management enquired whether I required dinner upon check in.  I had already visited the local Chinese takeaway on the way through town so didn’t make use of the restaurant this time.
It was a welcome bonus to be able to soak in the bath at the half way point of my long drive up the coast.
Didn’t make use of the spa jets as it was getting late. Next time!

Comfortable Overnight Stay

Stayed for 3 nights at this motel , a shortish walk from shops .Rooms were clean, roomy and comfortable. It was on the road to cann river but not the highway so very quiet. Pubs were closed so dining options were limited .Breakfasts hot and good. No microwave which would have been useful .Tv could not get all channels but could get fox sports which was great for a footy fan in these trying times. Great spot to stay and put something back into the local economy.I was traveling solo so the lounge chair was welcome but a 2 seater settee would be better

It's silly that The Countryman's Motor Inn and The Country Roads Motor Inns are opposite each other on the same road into Orbost. After going to the wrong one first I eventually arrived and was warmly welcomed by the host. Room was clean and functional, bathroom likewise. Parking at door makes travelling by motorcycle so much more convenient. Everything worked and was plugged in and I received great advice about the weather as well as the best places to eat. A warm and welcoming host makes a big difference.

Ticked all the boxes

Well located country motel. A warm welcome, plenty of room to park and clean rooms. Everything you want. A short walk from the Main Street, this motel is on a quiet road, but easy to find.  Rooms were well presented with all standard amenities. 

A warm welcome to Orbost 

We stayed here recently on our way back to Melbourne. After reading some reviews we knew it wasn’t going to be a palace, but for one night we thought we would try it. We arrived late (around 5pm) and realised we were the only guests!! Our standard queen room was very cramped, with a queen size bed plus one single bed. No sofa only one small tub chair, not at all comfortable to watch television.  This was a particularly cold evening and the ancient old airconditioner failed to adequately warm this room. I imagine the same thing would happen in summer time. It was worse the following morning. Fortunately we travel with a small portable electric heater, which was put to good use mainly in the bathroom. I believe from reading previous reviews that the old aircons are being replaced. Worth asking before deciding on a room. The bed was OK, thank goodness for the electric blanket.  Hot water not a problem but with no other guests using it should have been. The motel advertises a restaurant but no sign of it being open this particular Friday night. The free Wifi worked well for us the night we stayed. I personally think the tariff is a tad high for an old budget motel. 



 Budget motel

Clean, quiet and comfortable.  Newly painted and an upgrade of air-con units underway.  Restaurant not open but breakfast to the room available.  Reception very friendly and helpful.  We needed a good bed after a long day and this filled the bill very well.

A good overnight stop.

Clean, quiet, relatively modern motel, with a small restaurant on site that is open only for breakfast for guests if booked in advance. Our room was quite spacious, we found the bed a little too soft and one of the bedside table lamp not working. The airconditioner worked well and was quiet, which is a always a bonus in country motels.  Wifi was nonexistent which was very inconvenient. On our last day we went for an early morning walk and when we got back around 9:40 we found our door wide open, nobody in sight, all our luggage that I packed ready to leave, right next to the wide open door. Anyone could have just walked right in and taken anything. As checkout is until 10AM, we were not told to vacate the room earlier, and certainly did not expect the cleaners to go right in and start stripping our room. All our luggage were clearly still inside our room, we have not handed in our room key, but none of that mattered. Instead of closing the door and come back after 10AM, they thought it was OK to just start stripping our room, then leave the room with door wide open exposing all our luggage right in the door. This said, I would probably still stay here again, although with not much expectations as a guest of the motel.

Guests - not the highest priority

Countryman MI is easy to find, friendly, neat clean and tidy.
They don't have a restaurant but it's a short walk to the Orbost Club for a good country feed.  Reception lady was a laugh and full of info, We got an upgrade to the spa suite and after a long drive ( after golf in Tura Beach ) was much appreciated
Will stay here again.
