The motel is a little out of town but looks inviting.  Room was clean and smelt fresh on arrival, we were greeted by the owner who was friendly and helpful.  The room was old with original fittings BUT well maintained with kitchenette, microwave, toaster and kettle.  Clean towels and plenty of hot water in the shower.  The built in bed was extremely firm but nice clean linen.  Parking is at the front of rooms so no need to carry luggage a long way, overall we enjoyed our stay but some updating of internals overdue.  It is not within walking distance of shops or restaurants as far as we could tell but the Compendium lists Moonee Beach Pub as a good spot for dinner and even though a bit of a drive north was worth it.

After reading other reviews about this motel we were expecting a cute re-vamped vintage country motel. While the bed was very comfortable as were the pillows, the decor definitely needed a freshen up. The grounds out the back really needed attention as well. The advertised kitchenette was non-existent - just the usual tea making items. There was no milk in the refrigerator and my reading light was non-existent . On contacting the management there wasn't a replacement bulb that could be located. Little things I know but when one is paying quite a bit for just a bed for the night,this is a bit slack. However the manager did allow us into our room earlier as we had to change for a mid afternoon birthday party. He was also most obliging to give us some milk when we asked for it.

Disappointing

This was a tricky establishment to get to as you are required to do a U turn on the main highway as you approach this from the north.  There was parking just at the door, a container of cutlery, crockery for guests' use and washing up facilities.  The room was a decent size.  You can hear the highway traffic but wasn't a problem.  There were a number of events in town at that particular time so much of the accommodation had been booked when looking for accommodation on this date, This motel is a good drive out of down town Coffs Harbour.

Good for an overnight stop

I stayed here recently with my two children as we travelled from Brisbane to Canberra. I had previously stayed here 9 years ago and loved it; and the location, whilst confusing for first timers; is handy.

I was a disappointed that we were supposed to get a refurbished room but ended up in the room I’m pretty sure I had 9 years ago. Nothing had changed and it was extremely run-down. The bathroom was horrid, and the mould smelly smell was over-powering to say the least. I did like the fact there was a small kitchenette area as many motels don’t have these, but they do need some attention. 

I asked for an iron and was directed to the cleaners room and couldn’t spend more than a minute in there without being unable to breathe due to the mould. I felt sorry for the cleaners if that’s where they have to work out of. 

I understand this is a work in process, so I’m not going to “nit pick” everything, but in the world of motels and competition, this place should just shut down for a few months and re-open with new signage, wifi, etc. Better to do that than allow customers like me to stay in old rooms whilst charging what I think is a high price.

I’m hoping my mother didn’t get charged for the upgraded room (she paid for this night) and will be chasing that up as it wasn’t worth more than $80.

The owner was nice and helpful, and I understand they haven’t had the property for long; but if it were my place, I would do things differently. It’s also extremely difficult to run a motel with a young family, so I take my hat off to them.

I would be interested to see the place once all renovations are done because it does have enormous potential.

Disappointing 

Very ordinary accommodation at four star price.
All the fittings were extremely low quality and the spare pillows at least had been used by other guests since they were washed.
Location wasn’t bad for a stop over
