This place was a pigsty both inside and outside. There is broken furniture and crap everywhere. The kitchen benchtops were all cut and damaged.It was more a mens hostel than a backpackers. The room I was given was dirty, and the toilet had been used. There were hairs in the sink and ants crawling on me in my bed. There was no blanket. I had to use the second bath towel for warmth. The lady running the place was nice but I was very uncomfortable there. Flyscreen was damaged and also for my safety I had to sleep with window closed. Shower was dangerous and scalding hot water spurted out from behind the hot water tap handle and burned me.I couldn’t possibly rate this place any lower. They should have paid me to stay there.

Affordable bed in friendly establishment. Sadly no pool. Parking on site and shops are within walking distance. On site parking available. Have female dormitories with en-suite bathroom which is a bonus in a backpackers. Also have motel type “rooms” downstairs if you have more money to spend.

Sunshine Coast on a Budget

I feel compelled to write a review for Caloundra Backpackers due to the outstanding customer service and friendliness displayed by “detective” Joe, the new manager! 
Right from the off Joe came out of his office to say hello upon arrival before I'd even got out of the car! After check in, he took the time to show me around the hostel and tell me what's nearby. 
The hostel is in a fantastic location close to the center of town, near the bus depot and the many beaches found in the area. There's also a shopping center just across the road. It’s a really clean place, it’s value for money and it’s an open-environment inside. It’s really easy to meet other people.
But it was the act of theft from someone not staying at the hostel where Joe really upped his customer service skills to a new level and restored my faith in humanity! 
After my wallet was stolen, he found the culprit responsible through the hostel’s CCTV. We were even able to follow that person after coming across her later! while Joe gave updates to the police on our location. It was very much a batman and robin situation, if robin was robbed of hundreds of dollars and generally no help at all. Not only did Joe manage to easily pursue the thief with me flip-flopping like a penguin in thongs behind him, but he worked out where she ditched us. He then kept me company at the station while I worked out how much money was spent and giving further details to the police. The person responsible was caught and I'm able to get all my money back! As I spent all day as either a crap Robin or at the police station, I was offered another night’s stay to make up for my ordeal.  I was offered lifts to make sure I got to where I was going next and to store money in a safe as I was having to cancel my cards. I couldn’t have been looked after any better and I am extremely grateful! especially as on this day he was moving into the hostel with a delivery van, due to it only being his 5th shift! 
What happened is absolutely no reflection on the hostel, but of someone not following the rules. I'm really glad I came to Caloundra as it’s a great place to chill out. I'd happily stay here again as I know it will definitely be even better with a hero in charge!

Great place to chill, fight crime and everything in between!

It seems that all hostels in Australia have lower standards than Europe an Japan.
This one little bit better than expected but not very clean and beds not comfortable.
I am disappointed from Australia 

Low standards hostels in Australia 

This is a working hostel in Caloundra about a 15 minutes walk from the grey hound drop...there is no shuttle and the hostel doesnt answer emails.

Tired and dirty with a clicky atmosphere. 

Awful beds and no a/c. I wouldn't recommend a stay here.

Caloundra Backpackers

They overcharged and will not refund even though they are in the wrong and than they abuse their customers. They refused to return emails and do not have any customer service standard. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Don't stay here

Our first stop in Aus after flying into Brisbane, really kicked our stay off 😎

Laura runs the place, she’s great. Welcomed us in, organised lifts for us and even managed to find us farmwork within the first week! Ideal if you’re looking for the 88 days, these guys tend to work hard then go neck vodka as soon as Friday hits, reminded me of home!

Family vibes 

Stayed here for a little while with my GF, we were made to feel totally welcome from the outset. Although not a working hostel, it does have a small amount of workers who stay here. Consequently it has a really chilled out vibe, more relaxed than it’s counterpart in Mooloolaba. However, on the weekend it becomes a hive of activity with free barbecues (provided by hostel) and day trips to Noosa or even the Glasshouse Mountains.

One important thing to state is that if you’re doing your farm days, ring this hostel and ask Laura to help you! She has contacts and we managed to stay for the duration of our days!

The town of Caloundra is a beauty and a must visit in terms of the epic Sunshine Coast. The hostel is set near to the sea and from start to finish each day was an absolute pleasure. There are workers for accommodation at the hostel who allow its chilled out, relaxed vibe to flourish and keep the hostel ticking over to an amazing extent. A big shout out to the management team for providing a superb environment and creating a positive energy, it sounds cringe but the hostel is a good mix of family friendly, relaxed vibe but at the same time you can have a few beers and relax in the garden before heading into town for a more lively atmosphere. 

I’ve never experienced such a positive stay amongst such an internationally diverse group of people. With a huge variety of backgrounds and personalities, our stay at CB was incredible and we cherish our memories there.

Bloody awesome.

Proper hostel. Pretty clean. Small double room not modern but enough for a few nights. Easy to meet people. Affordable price and well placed because not very far from the beach (only a few minutes' walk)

When we got to the yard and parked the car, we were worried. There were all over the corner stuff stuff stuffed up like sofas, TVs, chairs, etc., not to mention socks and underwear piled up under the windows of some rooms. The rooms are small and the bathroom is tiny, but overall clean enough. The sheets are dirty, not to mention the towels! The structure would be nice and the common area very spacious, but unfortunately everything is left to go, including the kitchen that has a layer of dirt that can hardly be cleaned.
