Romantic Vineyard

Next week will be my fourth stay at Romantic Vineyard. It is the kind of place you dream about when you are not there. If you are a doggy person, on arrival you will enjoy being greeted by the excitable Jack Russells, they happily escort you to reception and then around to The Cottage and they love to accompany you on a walk through the grape vines. Dave makes amazing beer, and before hugging Renee and Dave, and patting the dogs, the first thing I (jokingly) say after I have opened the car door to Dave is 'where's my beer'. He even delivers it to my bed if I am being lazy! I can't even begin to describe the food, you can see why Renee won awards in the USA. If you are there for lunch, the New Orleans' Italian fisherman's sandwich Muffaletta is wonderful, cheesy, meaty, crusty bread goodness! Every main meal and dessert Renee makes is delicious, but the chocolate/peanut butter pie is my favorite. If you choose to sit at the big dining table with the other guests, you'll meet interesting people and have great conversation, but there is also the option of a more intimate experience in the fernery, either way the food keeps coming and Dave suggests the perfect inhouse or local wine. After dinner, Dave might take you out to his massive Man Cave, where he has amplifiers, a microphone, turntables and an extensive collection of old vinyl records to suit all musical tastes. If it's cold, a fire in a 44 gallon drum keeps you toasty warm and the dogs make sure you get to bed safely if you stay in The Cottage, which has a dreamy, comfy mattress and overlooks the vines. And at bedtime, the frogs in the nearby dam will sing you to sleep...
