Fantastic
1244 reviewsWe just got back from a 2 1/2 week trip to Argentina and used this as a home base in between trips to other areas. We stayed here three times in 2 weeks due to the location, but I can honestly say, we made the right choice, and I would definitely stay here again the next time we travel to Buenos Aires. The location is perfect. Very close to the Subte, buses, so many things are walking distance and loads of late-night dining options. The staff are super helpful. I had forgotten my jacket in a cab the first night we arrived. Due to flight delays we arrived very early in the twilight hours but the front desk clerk was ever so helpful in contacting the taxi service to help me get the jacket back. He put me in touch with them, gave me their whatsapp and overall went above and beyond. I found that every staff member we came across was willing to go the extra mile for us. Breakfast was very good, with the rustic bread being my favorite item. Occasionally, they had fresh starberries or sliced tomatoes and avocado but it really depended on what time you had breakfast. Consistent items were the pastries, excellent flan, medialunas, yogurt, toppings, scrambled eggs, sausage, cold ham, sliced cheese, cherry tomatoes, and apples. The orange juice was fresh-squeezed. Really good way to start the day. I loved our rooms. All three that we stayed in through our journey were almost identical, with the cute tango dance step rug and ample bathrooms that had razors, toothbrushes, sewing kit along with the shampoo, lotion, and soap. One of our three rooms was compatible with our international plug adapter for some reason, but the front desk gave us a loaner that we used for two of the stays. I think the decor throughout the hotel was charming. I would not say it is the most luxurious hotel, but it certainly fulfilled our needs and made me feel like I was in Buenos Aires. On our last day, they allowed us to stow our luggage since we had a late flight as well as use the lobby, bathrooms, etc,. so we were able to enjoy the city to the last minute. Nearby, our favorite place to get a casual bite became Los 36 Billares, which is known as a "bar notable" for its historical significance. Lots of lovely woodwork inside. Fantastic service, good food (pizzas, pasta, empanadas, and beer) at very reasonable prices. We ended up there on days when we had walked all around the city, having adventures, and just wanted something cozy without having to think about it. The best thing I ate there was the mondongo on a rainy night, which was a tripe and chickpea stew. I am still thinking about it. Eventually, the servers started to recognize us and greeted us with big smiles. It's hard not to love and miss this place.
