Our 2 night stay was wonderful. From our warm welcome, being shown to our room and the quaint ambiance...it all captured the charm and hospitality of the The Chequers Inn. Our room (4) with an amazing view, overlooked the road and we were pleasantly surprised that the road noise was at a minimum. We slept incredibly well, the bed was super comfortable. The room was immaculately clean and cosy, the on-suite was modern and up to date. A fully stocked and carefully thought out tea/coffee station in the room was also a nice touch. Sitting by one, of two, log burners enjoying a glass of wine before dinner was a treat. The food of the highest quality ingredients...breakfast, included in the price, was plentiful and did not disappoint. Dinner was amazing...basics like a burger and fish and chips were prepared, presented well and cooked to perfection whilst the menu also offered some beautiful options. The steak and ale pie with seasonal veg was hearty and tasty served with "real" mash. The braised shin of beef served with blue cheese dumplings was the show stopper! Best braised shin of beef this reviewer has ever had. I would absolutely recommend The Chequers Inn and we are looking forward to returning in 2026.
