Jyumaisou Onsen

This rather modestly arranged and furnished ryokan/hotel is located just outside the center of Shizuoka in an inconspicuous neighborhood, within a good walking distance (20 minutes) from the train station. The rooms are simple, clean, and with reasonable WiFi connectivity. The (shared) bathroom is well maintained too. The two dinners we had, prepared by the owner's mother, were both rich in variety as well as full of wonderful flavor so typical for the Japanese cuisine. The ingredients were fresh, the cooking showed a lot of technique, and served attractively. Service by the owners was friendly and personal. The price per night for two persons including dinner and no less enjoyable breakfast was around 200 USD. Would not hesitate to stay and enjoy the "mother's" fantastic dishes in Jyumaisou again.
