Lope Hotel

Basically the only place to stay near Lope National Park, so a semi-monopoly. We were thrilled to arrive after a challenging trip and transfer from Ivindo. The setting on the Ogoue River is stunning and the bungalows comfortable. Service is strained at best...it seems there is a labor shortage? Meals were often delayed, but the food was ultimately fine. The overtaxed staff was great. It just seems that local management might be more focused on profit than service. They seemed stunned by the notion that we might want to visit the Park before 8am breakfast when the animals are actually active. Odd at best, but perhaps more used to wealthy Gabonese who sit by the (lovely) pool than foreigners wanting to see wildlife in the fabulous Park. Sunrise in Lope was magical!
