Hôtel l'Arapède

Last May, whilst walking along the coast between Collioure and Port-Vendres on a bright and clear day, I noticed this beautiful place snuggled in a cove, clinging to the rocks between the road and the sea. I remember looking down and instantly wishing that I was swimming in the pool in the brilliant morning heat. A few weeks later, I decided to book into L'Arapède for a weekend. Taking one of the spacious rooms with a balcony overlooking the bay and pool terrace, I felt this sense of serenity overcome me that I seldom find. From this location, I was able to spend time relaxing on the balcony whilst soaking up the Mediterranean and scented pine, absorb the same view whilst eating a good breakfast or a relaxed lunch, take a 5 minute stroll to have my morning swim in one of the number of pristine bays surrounding it, walk into Collioure or Port-Vendres (only 10 mins walk from Collioure town and little more to Port-Vendres) to soak up the atmosphere, return to do a few lengths in the pool before heading out for an apéritif and superb dinner in one of the many outstanding bars and restaurants nearby, all before the easy walk back along the coast to have a peaceful night of sleep. Throughout last year, this became my base to escape from the hectic pace of weekdays in Central London. The team here always provide a very warm welcome and whether you’re visiting for exploration, a romantic break, a family holiday or even, like me, just to unwind and adjust to a nicer pace; L'Arapède will not disappoint. I’m already looking forward to the new season!
