Hostal Francis Drake was wonderful! We stayed on two separate nights -- Dec. 3 and Dec. 7 -- before and after we visited Torres del Paine. It was a school trip, so we had 3 adults and 13 high school students. The staff, especially Carolina, did a tremendous job handling our group, answering questions, adjusting their breakfast schedule to suit our needs (5am!), and generally making accommodations to make our trip easier. They were able to store some luggage in between our stays, helped us with parking our rental cars while we were gone, and made excellent recommendations for food. Your group might not have the same needs as ours, but if they can handle us, they can handle anything. Thank you so much!

We stayed here on two separate nights whilst touring Patagonia.   Our first stay was in a toom with a shower over the bath.   The water was either very hot or very cold.   The staff were very friendly and helpful and have a good level of English.   The breakfast choice is small but adequate.   On our second visit we had a room with a walk in shower which was lovely.   However there is no hook for the hand towel and the hook for the bath towels was far to high to reach.   The location of this hotel is good, near to the lake and to the town.

We stayed here twice on our visit to Patagonia. Our first visit was for a single night before heading into Torres del Paine for a few days hiking and exploring. Our room was warm and clean with a modern bathroom and big walk in shower. Breakfast was a cold buffet with plenty of choice. We had a great nights sleep in comfy single beds. We returned a few days later and upon checking in the lady on the from desk produced my wife’s sleeping mask which she had inadvertently left behind! A simple but thoughtful level of service from a friendly and helpful team. I would happily stay here again if in the area

The hostel is clean and comfortable, somewhat basic but has a nice breakfast and fast internet, as well as very attentive and kind reception staff. I would recommend - if you're in Patagonia this is more than enough luxury I think!

Nice little hotel with great staff and very clean rooms.  Staff was super helpful.  Bathrooms are modern and well-equipped.  Room 12 is nice and quiet.  Breakfast is mainly breads, yogurt, cereal.  Would definitely return.  Close to everything and a cut above other hostals.

I stayed here for 2 nights on my Exodus trip around Chile.

I shared a triple room with my Dad, which was ideal for us. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, ensuring we both slept very well each night. The room was lovely and warm too, very cosy and comfortable after a cold day exploring outside.

The large bathroom had a powerful shower, which stayed hot throughout our stay.

The free wifi could not be easily accessed from our room but could be in all public places of the hostal.

The breakfast was the best we had in our trip of Chile - plenty of choice with lots of fresh fruit and great coffee. The tap water can be drunk and so we refilled our bottles from the bathroom tap.

The hotel is in an ideal location for exploring the town. We were blessed with perfect weather during our stay in Patagonia and the view from outside the hostal is amazing - the lake and mountains can be seen clearly.

I would stay here again if I find myself back in Puerto Natales as the location is ideal and the rooms very comfortable!

When I heard we were booked into a Hostal my heart sank, as previous experiences had not been good, however the Francis Drake's rooms were much better than many hotels we'd stayed in, a lovely surprise. They're all modern, and clean and the bathroom and shower are excellent - just what you need after a hard day's travelling/exploring. My only criticism would be the breakfast which was quite basic, but ok. It was in a good location too.

Excellent value, great location and fantastic staff. You couldn’t ask for more accommodating people. 5 min walk from the main plaza and 5 min from the coastal path. A 20 min walk to the bus station or 5 min taxi ride. Many restaurants within 5-15 mins. We used this as our pre and post W stop, leaving luggage for pickup later. It worked out great. Not fancy but met our needs.

When informed that we were staying at a basic hotel we were surprised  to find that the Hostal Francis Drake was as good as many 3 star hotels that we have in around the world. OK it does not have a bar or full time restaurant and there is no one to carry your luggage but the place is friendly, the rooms well appointed and clean and the breakfast more than adequate. Location is good and as a base for visiting the area more than acceptable.

We spent two nights at Hostral Francis Drake on our wan into and out of Torres del Paine National Park.  Our room on the 1st floor had a totally remodeled bathroom and was clean and neat.  (NOTE:  As is the case throughout Chile, the sewer pipes are old, corroded, and narrow--so one has to put toilet paper, etc. in a trash can in the bathroom.).  If you are on the 2nd floor, you will have to carry your luggage up the stairs.  The breakfast in the hostal was adequate, but there were no hot selections.  Depending on your room's location, you might have a good view of the water and surrounding mountains.
