Gia Hoa 2 Hotel

I fully agree with the review from Simon T in August 2016. You have to look/ask for a room with a suitable bathroom. Which in my case is a bathroom without a bath, but WITH a shower that is properly mounted on the waal. I was in room 302 with a nice view and a small balcony (where you don't want to sit because of the extreme outside tempertures.

It's very hard on the Gia Hoa 2 Hotel that the only Tripadvisor review so far is so rude and negative. I have stayed here twice in the past year, both times for four days, and my room was perfectly adequate and of course cost virtually nothing. The bed was sufficiently comfortable, the plumbing worked, and everything was clean.  When I had to leave at 4am there was a lad sleeping on a bunk by the front door to let me out. The manager was a bit grumpy, but it did the job for me very well.

We stayed on 3rd floor, the bed was reasonably comfortable. The bathroom had a weird shower with one moldy ceiling tile and a top part that didn't work. But if I sat down, I could use the 2nd lower shower head.  Kinda weird but worked. 

The AC worked fine.  A cold fridge that to keep beer/water in. Honestly it doesn't seem like there were any better options in this town. 

We were biking across the Mekong Delta.  The manager (yes, pretty gruff) wanted us to leave our bikes in the lobby but once he left the night staff let us keep them in our room. 

This town has a lively coffee scene, I recommend getting an iced coffee at the one on the corner of Nguyễn Thái Học and Nam Kỳ Khởi Nghĩa

Not bad for $14 a night

I don't even know where to begin... We had booked a double room with balcony, but the room that was offered to us at first, was in the street level and had a huge window to the street, so we could hear all the noise from the busy street outside (impossible to sleep). We then asked for another room, from upper floor, and then we got moved to the highest floor (4th floor), but the room wasn't any better.. Horrible little room with 70's interior, there was dirty and the bathroom taps looked like they had never been cleaned! The staff (even the owner) doesn't speak or understand hardly any English, so it was really hard to communicate with them. On top of this, our luggage had been tumbled while we were outside on the first day!! Luckily nothing had been stolen from us.. There were many signs around the hotel that said if something was stolen, the hotel wouldn't take responsibility so..

The only upsides in this hotel were that the air-condition works, there's hot water, and that it's very cheap. But nevertheless, not worth it and I don't recommend this hotel to anyone!
