The Palm Tree Guest House

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one week and it was lovely. It is a small, family affair, with four bungalows off one of these shady, side roads that lead to the beach, and although there is a restaurant out front and a couple of bars within the block, it is so incredibly peaceful and quiet. The owners are the kindest people. Super helpful (they even let me use their home computer when the mobile site on my phone was not working), they give a bottle of cold water to you and clean the room daily, they even made us the best coffee every morning (not included in the room, but well worth the price!) The hospitality they provided is not something you will find everywhere on this island. On site, there is a well-maintained garden oasis of orchids and other tropical plants and flowering trees, which add to the charm and relaxed nature of the space.. The bungalows are roomy and clean. Ours had a king-sized bed which was very comfortable, a large bathroom/shower (water takes a minute to get hot, but it is plentiful once you have it) a mini fridge (an excellent addition for those not wanting to dine out every meal), air con and a fan. Also, wifi in every room is quite strong and fast enough. There is a porch out front of each bungalow with a table and comfortable lounge chairs. Although the bungalows are adjacent and attached to one other, the space feels very private. In the vicinity: Beach is a 3 minute walk, a plethora of restaurants and bars in the area, laundry next door, convenient mart next door (and many others within seconds), motobikes for rent all around, bicycles for rent on the main road (2 minute walk) About Long Beach, it is lined with resort chairs and the beach is not very wide, so in high season it may be difficult to find a patch of sand to lay your towels and blankets down, but the beach itself is not private (save for in front of one out-of-place, ritzy resort), so plop yourself down whereever you find room, and those in their resort-owned lounge chairs can't do anything about it if it happens to be right in front of them! Sidenote: In some of the pictures, there is an outdoor pool. This place is small and definitely does not have a pool! I think there may be another palm tree guesthhouse on the island....
