We opted to stay in ninh binh as opposed to the touristy area of tam coc. I'm glad we did. As all attractions are spread out anyway it didn't matter where you stay. At some point you need to travel somewhere. This place is situated in a nice quiet area where all the locals love to say hello to you or kids high five you! You need to rent a bicycle or motorbike to get around and the owner can give you some assistance in recommending a place. The rooms are nice and clean. Beds comfy and good wifi. Breakfast is extra and nicely cooked. She offers dinner option also but we ate out. The main area for restaurants is a bit of a walk but it's not difficult and not too far, and best if you have google maps to help you. If you want to be closer to the restaurants the trade off is its noisier and busy. I enjoyed being able to sleep with a bit of quiet for once!
