Tam Coc Lacasa Homestay

If you're expecting luxurious hotel look elsewhere. Dat (guy in the photo below) is very welcoming and hospitable, he joins you for their special family dinner which at a 100,000 VNd was well worth it especially with the amount of food there is.

10/10 would recommend 

Stayed at the Tam Coc Bamboo Homestay for two nights whilst in Ninh Binh. 

Firstly, don’t stay in Ninh Binh city but at Tam Coc which is 5km away and the true countryside with all the attractions anyway. 

If you take the night bus from Phong Nha it stops about an 8 minute’s walk away from the homestay in Tam Coc before heading to Ninh Binh city. Great location!

The owner was super friendly and helpful with everything. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The dorm room had quite big and wide beds which was great and good air con. Everything was clean. 

+ You’re able to rent a scooter from the homestay to explore the area. 
+ was allowed to check in at 5am when I arrived!!! Amazing :)

This is a great hostel type homestay, nothing overly fancy, but clean and well kept and such a good location. 

Stayed in the 8 person dorm room for two nights. Rooms are clean and bathrooms are okay. 150000 vnd per night. Staff was always helpful with activities and information. In general if you have any requests he'll provide you with it and just say why not :D

This homestay is perfect if you are wanting to spend a few days in the peaceful area of Tam Coc for a budget price. It’s in a good location, just a short walk to the main town and about 15-20 mins to main attractions by moped. The homestay is very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The dorms are basic and not the best we have stayed in but certainly not the worst! The top bunk beds are a death trap with no rail or handle to help yourself up and down off the bed. I ended up having to move to the bottom bunk as I just couldn’t get up and down from the bed. Also there is no ventilation in the dorm so it’s very. We also had the ‘family dinner’ one night which was lovely and only 100,000 vnd which isn’t bad for the amount of food you get! We also rented a moped from the homestay which I have to say was dreadful and not the cheapest either (100,000 vnd for the day, not 24 hours). I would recommend asking for a good moped or renting from somewhere else. Other than that the homestay was great and I would recommend to other travellers!

Great little homestay! 

You get what you pay!

Why not

Was interesting but we thought we were having a toilet stop, we did not expect the sales pitch.
Each tour was given an allocated room and some one demonstrated this made from bamboo and coconut 
Didn't see any one buy any thing
These products are also available in Australia so we weren't looking for this in Vietnam.

We knew that we were going to stay at the cheaper end of the market and did not expect luxury but it was much worse than we expected.  The triple room has no windows and smells musty.  There are more mosquitoes inside than I have seen anywhere else in Vietnam - probably because a pile of dirty sheets was left near our room attracting them.  The downstairs shower is home to at least one giant cockroach.  The shower upstairs leaks through the ceiling to the shower below - see the brown stains on the floor.  Every night the lane outside the hotel fills with horrible-looking brown water which looks like overflow of sewage.  The place is billed as a "homestay" but is in reality a cheap and rather grotty hotel.
