Golden Globe Apartment

We had a surprisingly good experience with Golden Globe. I chose this place because it was close to airport for a 1 night stay just to go back to airport the following morning, it was in our budget and received decent reviews. First of all, make sure you have the address and the location on your Google Maps App on your cell... it can be hard to locate. Our taxi driver found it on the first try driving slow down the street. First impression was good... we were greeted with smiles and help with our luggage. The decor is simple and the reception area was clean. Our check-in was pretty simple, the only bump was that we needed to give a USD$50 or VND equivalent as a deposit on the apartment. I didn't remember reading this anywhere, but luckily we had just visited the ATM, so easy enough. The deposit was given to us promptly after inspection on checkout. The gentleman checking us in was very nice but didn't speak English and we don't speak Vietnamese... but we managed just fine. We had the family apartment with 2 bedrooms on the 2nd floor and we were pleasantly surprised. The apartment was MUCH larger than expected. The 2 bedrooms had a king & queen bed and were comfortable enough to get a great night sleep. Each bedroom had a TV (though dated) and a dvd player. Worked great for our 2 young children to watch cartoons in English or Vietnamese. The living room was great - large newer TV, couch, dining table. The kitchen looked well-equipped even though we didn't use it. The bathrooms worked fine. Though we didn't have enough towels for all 4 of us.. though we could have asked and they would have given... we were too tired and managed with 2 large and 2 hand towels. They also offer toothbrush and paste kits, shampoo and soap. Wifi was excellent - which is key for us. Check-out in the afternoon was a breeze and the receptionist was very nice and spoke decent English. She called a taxi for us. The door man was very kind and chatted with us while we waited for the taxi. All in all we had an excellent experience and the value (USD$60/night) was spot on.
