Excellent hotel for  a great price. 

I had a big room, very clean, well decorated and very isolated from the noisy streets of Hanoi.  My room has a fridge with fresh drinks. (not free, but always nice to have). I had a stable internet connexion with decent speed to do my work in the morning or looking for activities to do in Hanoi (but I had to use the ethernet cable, because wifi didn't work...not big deal). Air conditioning was very good and I slept pretty well in that hotel.

Location of the hotel is excellent, you are really near everything...such as the markets, main streets

Staff was great, very helpful with me and always smiling! One morning I was one hour late for the breakfast, but the staff prepared me a breakfast anyway, how nice!

This hotel changed its name to GOLDENOCEANS (one word) at the beginning of May 2012. Having lived in Ha Noi before, we wanted a friendly hotel which was outside the main tourist drag. We certainly found it. On the edge of the old quarter, walking distance to West Lake and many restaurants, a good walk to Hoan Kiem and not  a western cafe in sight. The (abundant) staff generally had good english and are incredibly friendly . we stayed three weeks and our every whim was catered for - including our motorbike lovingly tucked up at night in the foyer. When we asked for a teapot in our room, someone went out and bought a teaset for us. The Viet coffee for breakfast is enough to get you through the day!
Yes, there are little language/misunderstanding problems , but the willingness of the staff makes up for it. Our room was very comfortable and cleaned every day.

Great Hotel + Great Service

Excellent location and very comfortable

To make it clear – please don’t mix it up:
There was another Bro&Sis hotel (now called Moon View) former owned by the same family as the Bro&Sis hotel (53 Hang Bun St.) I talk about here. This hotel does not meet European standards at all. The rooms need an urgent renovation and the bathrooms (bathtub, shower curtains) were very moldy. (I had the opportunity to see different rooms). Free broadband internet (WiFi) did not work on 3 days out of 4. 
Breakfast is very poor.
The positive aspect was the friendliness and the helpfulness of the people in service and in the reception (mainly young students of “English and tourism”) and the whole staff.  The hotel is close to the old town.

Better places for the price - try to avoid

The hotel staff was very friendly, nice, and was fluent in English.  The rooms were clean.  However this is the first hotel that I have ever been in where not all the rooms had windows that opened to the exterior of the hotel.  Many of the rooms in this hotels instead opened to a skylight that was either 10x20 feet or 10x10 feet.  I prefer to have the option of clean air or a view with the hotels that I stay at but there only seemed to be 1-2 rooms per floor of 10 rooms that had this option.

Friendly staff - most rooms have no outside window

This hotel is in very poor condition. The curtains are disgustingly black. The room we had was noisy. The breakfast was very limited. The only good thing was the reception staff. They were very friendly and helpful. It is not centrally located. I would not recommend this hotel.
