Great location, very comfortable beds. The staff were friendly and always checking in on how they can help us to either improve our stay or to get about the city. Beach and markets within less than 10 minutes walk down the road. Plenty of restaurants to choose from

Me and my girlfriend took a night on Catba island. This is out first trip here. We stay at Catba Central Hotel and it was great, reasonable price and helpful. The host, he is very informative ! I would recommend for those guys who are backpackers if you don’t know which hotel you stay at. Highly recommend !

Had a great stay at this hotel, not the least because of the friendly family that runs the place. They also have been super helpful in helping me to find a solution with a broken part on my bicycle.
The room and location are also ok.

we looking for room on the way,they say they have room available,we looking room and we staying 2 night very quiet room and nice view good mountain .they have breakfast very good.we recommend for eveyone come staying.next here we will come again

The rooms and in great condition, the breakfast is good, the location is great and close to everything, and the staff are super nice and helpful. They helped us to book a day trip and tranportaion, and even offered the best exchange rates. An overall great experience, very recommeded!

The Hotel and the rooms are impecable. For the price that we paid it's amazing! It's super clean, you get FREE bottle water, AC and bathroom supplies. Also you get a free delicious breakfast, but the most important of the stay was the friendly young guy at the reception, he's adorable! You should definetely stay here! :) 

We stayed here for two nights, room was a nice size with ensuite and very cheap! The hotel was very central and the owners didn’t have an issue with us checking out early. Staff were polite and had an excellent breakfast included.

Great hotel and amazing service!

The location of the hotel is quite good: restaurant, bars and the pier are in walking distance. At the moment there are constructions going on all around the hotel so while it is quite in the afternoon/evening it is pretty noisy in the morning.  The rooms are clean and the only minus is that there is no separation between shower, toilet which is why you always have to pay attention not to set the whole bathroom under water when showering. The service in the hotel is good and they can get you scooters for a good price as I think (70.000VND per day without gas) but i would recommend​ a little research regarding the price of  all the other tours they are offering because they really tricked us with a boat tour. We booked a boat tour for two days and one night on a boat for 20 people. 
We payed 110 US Dollars per person for a room with balcony and later we found out the other balcony room was booked for only 75 USD per person (they booked it somewhere else).

Good Hotel but a little tricky with the prices of the tours

We stayed at the Catba Central hotel for 4 nights.  We found the staff to be really friendly, the location was good and central, and we definitely can't complain about the price  (~US$12/night). 

I'm only giving them a 3/5, however, because there are improvements that could be made to make this hotel better. First, the hotel did not service our room during our stay, which was only an issue because you can't flush the toilet paper (like most places in SE Asia) and there are ants in the room so you can't toss food in the garbage. We ended up taking our garbage out each day. Second, the wi-fi was really poor, even in rooms close to the lobby. Even using a wi-fi extender, it was pretty dodgy. Third, the western options for breakfast are not the greatest (really greasy deep-fried pancakes or a bread roll with a bit of jam). Fourth, our A/C unit was broken - thankfully there was a fan in the room. 

Some tips for guests - 1) Ditch the Western options and order the Vietnamese breakfast of pho - the squid pho is really good. I figured if the staff were eating it every morning, it was probably good and it was!  2) If you crave Western food, there is a little restaurant 2 doors up the hill called Le Pub that has surprisingly good burgers and pizza for reasonable prices. We think it's new (no reviews) because it wasn't busy when we were there.

Decent value, but could be better

They send us an email to cancel our booking on the morning that we were arriving to Cat Ba and the reason that they gave us was that they do not accept people with Spanish or Israeli nationality. Not only they discriminate us for our nationality but also they were very unprofessional to cancel our booking so late.
