Ba Doan Guesthouse

We stayed at Ba Doan for a couple of days. It is a cheap mini-hotel and a good place to stay if you spend the days diving/snorkeling. The resorts at the beach are way more expensive. Furthermore we rented motorcycles from the owner and we went to the beach near the airport (overthere there are some places were you can have lunch). The friendly owner also arranged omelets and bread in the morning. There's even a small kitchen, don't expect too much though. 

Overall: cheap and friendly.

Great value for price

The guesthouse is well located, in walking distance of the beach and many restaurants. As well the owners were friendly and helpful.

However, the room and the building/facilities in general were disappointing. We are aware that it is a budget place and we cannot expect a luxury suite. But we stayed in cheaper places in Vietnam which were a lot more charming and nice.

Already at the reception everything looked quite messy. The stairways were dirty with a lot of hair and dust on the floor (not so nice as you had to enter without shoes). The interior of the room was simple but okay, but as well it did not seem very clean. There were hair on the floor, in the shower and on the beds, which made us feel unsure of whether the room was properly cleaned. Water dropping out of the AC... all in all not a very nice impression....

Rather disappointed!

Not expensive but not cheap compared to rest Vietnam. 
Owner seems friendly when he is there. Sometimes reception is empty. 
First room very thin hard mattress. No shower head. Only Vietnamese channels on TV. Rats scampering on roof at night! Ants. Light brown stain middle bed sheet. Dried tooth paste middle duvet cover. 
Second room deep mattress very hard. Only Vietnamese channels again no foreign (locals are not the demographic of visitors so doesn't make sense not to tune into foreign channels). No hot water at all. Open window (no glass in bathroom) thankfully angle means no one has a good view in but there is a view in. The window in the bedroom is loose and shakes with the wind. Termites in bed frame. Bad smell in air con. No curtains and only frosted glass windows to corridor so although other guests cannot see you in detail, they can see you in your room if you have the lights on!
