Thien Tan Star Hotel

We had a wonderful experience at this family-run hotel that sits directly on one of Con Dao's best beaches. If you like stumbling our of bed and onto the beach, look no further. The place has some wear and tear, but it's homey and comfortable. The grounds are gorgeous, covered in gardens, flowers, various trees and well-maintained flora. Several friendly dogs keep order, and the staff, especially Vi, is friendly, efficient and helpful. Rooms are tidied daily, towels are replaced and a hearty breakfast awaits you each morning. An on site restaurant and bar offers tasty food and drinks, though the menu is largely Western. If you want to eat like a local, it's not difficult to find some spots that have incredible dishes for around 60,000 VND. Definitely go to the seafood market outside of the Con Dao Market and select your delicacies to be cooked right in front of you. It's a mind-blowing experience. Also be sure to rent a moped at the hotel, as it is 100% advisable and hassle-free. Also, they offer free airport pick up and drop off, a major plus. In fact, as we had to leave before breakfast on our last day, they handed us sandwiches to go without us asking. They have all the boxes checked and are very much on-point here, and the prices are beyond fair. I love this hotel and would return here immediately if I'm ever lucky enough to come back to magical Con Dao.
