Superb clean and tidy rooms. Beautifully decorated and bed was really comfy. Slept like a log

Top rate breakfast. All round great atmosphere with very helpful staff and good ales in bar.

I would not hesitate to return and would highly recommend to others.

Great location right in the heart of Windermere.
The room was spotless and comfortable.  
The breakfast was excellent and freshly cooked.  Various choices available.  We didnt eat in the bar but it was obvious those who did thoroughly enjoyed theirs.  
The staff were really friendly and couldnt do enough for you, very efficient.
The landlady!  What can i say! I have never seen anybody as hardworking.  She deserves a medal she was always doing something but was never too busy to help if needed.

We had a most enjoyable and restful stay at the Elleray.  The Room was to a great standard and exceptionally clean.  We were greeted by a lovely lady who helped us and gave us lots of local useful information.
The breakfast was first class and the evening meal and pale ale was delightful!  The local lakes pink gin my wife thoroughly enjoyed.
Such a friendly team of people! 
We look forward to visiting again soon.

We stayed for 5 nights in Room 2 at The Elleray and had a lovely time! The weather wasn’t at its best and both needing a rest we spent a lot more time in our room than originally planned but thankfully found it very clean and comfortable with all necessary amenities (water, tea, biscuits etc.) and a smart TV for Netflixing of an evening! 

Breakfast was lovely and the B&B is located very well for access to plenty of beauty spots and eateries (we especially enjoyed ambling around Ambleside and snacking on gingerbread in Grasmere) - there is no parking however we parked at the bottom of town (a 5 minute walk) each evening without issue. 

The host , Caz, was clearly very hardworking and was always incredibly friendly, attentive and accommodating to our needs - even when we did have to wake her up early of a morning! We were also pleased to find out she kept a table reserved in the pub for B&B guests, which allowed us to grab a drink and tasty bite to eat in the popular pub on a Friday eve!

Definitely recommend to those looking for a cosy and comfortable stay in Windermere.

Stayed in Windermere for the weekend at he Elleray Hotel 1st weekend in February.
The hotel was spotlessly clean and our room was really comfortable.
Our host could not have been any more friendly, willing to stop and chat whenever we saw her, even though she was super busy.
Breakfast was fantastic, didn`t eat for the rest of the day.
The hotel is ideally situated in Windermere just up from the centre and also close to the railway station
Will certainly stay there again

I was here for a few nights and it was an absolute pleasure! Room was clean and cosy, food delicious, great location to be in, amazing atmosphere and the staff were really friendly and welcoming! Would definitely stay again!

Staff are brilliant and the food is also. Enough of a selection for food. Lovely atmosphere.  Food served quick nd in a nice manner and nothing is oo much trouble for the staff.  The beer garden is a hidden gem.

Wonderful 3 night break.  Arrived mid afternoon on Sunday in time to have a fabulous Sunday lunch.   Room was very clean with water, biscuits, tea and coffee available.  The rooms aren’t too big but perfectly adequate for a short break.  En-suite shower room very clean with toiletries provided.  You choose breakfast the night before and lots of good options.  Cereal and juice are available.  Breakfasts were  lovely and served quickly.  Everyone was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the area.  We luckily had excellent weather so took good advantage of the fabulous beer garden outside.  The hotel is very close to the train station.  There’s no parking other than for drop off but can park at the station or, as we did, at the bottom of town a short walk away.  Would certainly recommend and would definitely stay again

This was a lovely place to stay in Windermere! The room was very clean and the updated bathroom (with shower) was great! Caz was so welcoming and  kind, and I would definitely stay again. Very easy to get to from the train station and a very good starting point for exploring Windermere.

Stayed for 5 nights at the end of September for a walking week.   Caz and Tom run the hotel and were very welcoming.  Wonderful breakfasts cooked to order to set you up for the day and lovely clean rooms with a comfortable bed.  Very good value for money.

Lovely weekend in Windermere

Great break away

No parking on site, but we knew this in advance. This could be a problem during very busy periods, but the upside is that it is so close to the train station that if you are here on a walking holiday, you could easily leave the car at home because the bus stop for all destinations is nearby.

Our room only had a smallish wardrobe and we could have asked for more hangers had we needed them. The mattress was a little soft for us and will probably be replaced in time, but other than that, the room was spotless, the bathroom modernised and refreshments if needed.

The breakfasts were excellently cooked and there was also an adequate choice of cereals and juice. Caz provided fantastic service and never stopped for the entire duration of our stay. 

The hosts obviously care so much about the service they provide that, for that reason alone, it is worth giving them a chance and enjoying their hospitality in the heart of the Lake District.

Almost excellent

Myself and my partner stayed here for 3 nights from 20/7/21, the hosts Caroline and Tom are wonderful hard working people who can’t do enough for you. The rooms are comfortable, and clean, the breakfast is brilliant with a lot of choices, a lovely hidden beer garden to enjoy a variety of lovely cooked meals, will definitely stay here again, when we get the chance, hats off to you both, and your staff, our only regret is it was for 3 nights and not longer…

We've just spent a week at the Elleray in Windermere and couldn't have asked for a warmer welcome to the Lake District.
The Elleray is well located in the small town of Windermere, giving easy access to the rest of the Lake District via road or rail.
While the accommodation is on the budget end of the scale, compared to the overabundent spa hotels dotted around the lakes, the Elleray is comfortable and cosy.
What really made it a great stay though was the friendliness and care & attention shown by our hosts Caz & Tom; including the fantastic breakfasts! 

In short: Great option for those on a budget wanting a warm and friendly base from which to explore the Lake District. Would stay again.
