My colleague and I were caught out by the heavy snowfall on Saturday 2nd Dec and could not leave Windermere. He looked up B&Bs and the first one he contacted was Ivy Bank. Although closed for the winter Gareth opened up for us and a few others. His hospitality was generous and we had a comfortable night. The only reason I am not awarding him ten stars is because the reviews only allow five. 

We spent 3 nights at the Ivy Bank and loved absolutely everything. The host, Garreth, went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. The beds were extremely comfortable and the cooked breakfast was beautifully prepared to our personal tastes. The WiFi was reliably fast. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Loved our stay here. Nicky and gareth were so welcoming. They even put a fan in our room prior to our arrival as it was really hot weather when we were there.

This was my first time visiting the Lakes, with my partner, Mark. Ivy Bank did not disappoint! Very good location and Nicky and Gareth gave us some great recommendations for walks and places to visit. Breakfast was great and did us well through the day for our long walks. I was very sad to leave, it's a beautiful place and I'd certainly stay at Ivy Bank again! Thank you guys for making us feel very welcome!

I stayed for 6-nights in room 1, which was perfect for me. Nicky and Gareth made me feel immediately welcome and at ease, with clear and simple procedures in place for COVID-19. Being a short walk to shops and restaurants in both Windermere and Bowness, the location was great. Having private parking at the rear was also helpful, as I had my bike in the car and wanted it out of sight. But best of all, Gareth went to the shop and got almond drink so Nicky could make me vegan porridge each morning plus plant-based margarine for toast.

We stayed at Ivy Bank for 5 nights at short notice. Nicky and Gareth were great hosts. Breakfast was lovely and kept us going all day! The room was very comfortable, clean and spacious. We've been visiting the Lakes for many years and Ivy Bank definitely didn't disappoint. Private parking was a real bonus for the area. Loved it and would definitely recommend.

Garreth welcomed us with clear COVID-19 guidelines and made us feel relaxed. The room (room 5) was perfect for us with en-suite facilities. Breakfast was served and was well prepared with local produce used. Great hospitality with very friendly owners (Nicky and Garreth) - would recommend and will return. Take the time to interact with the hosts - make it a holiday and not just somewhere to sleep.

Everything was Perfect. Very friendly and welcoming. It would be nice to visit again; if given the opportunity, I will definitely stay at Ivy Banks again. I visited with my Nan and grandad and we are all very happy.  Thank you-Cameron xxx

Would happily recommend the Ivy Bank to anyone going to the Lake District - lovely room, great breakfast, and lovely friendly owners.  Couple of minutes walk to the shops and restaurants in Windermere. Private parking area.

Charming in every way!

Lovely stay with great hosts!

They even sorted a vegan breakfast for me...

Had a lovely 4-night stay at Ivy Bank at the start of September. Our room (3) was cosy and had everything required for our stay. All possible COVID19 precautions were taken.
Great location. We parked the car (spaces provided) and explored Bowness, Ambleside, Grasmere and Coniston via bus, train and on foot. Nicky and Garreth were welcoming hosts and provided us with a great breakfast to start our day. Would like to thank you for the pot of home made jam, which was quickly devoured!

Fantastic place to stay 

Stayed here for a little family brake, 2 rooms with breakfast. Rooms are a little tired, room 3 TV position is all wrong it's at the side of the bed it needs to be at the end of the bed, so you can watch TV while in bed!

Full English was lovely one of the best i would say! Friendly hosts too, I would highly recommend this establishment.

Ivy Bank was a warm and hospitable place to visit, with a lovely sense of Victorian charm and elegance. The hosts were really friendly and welcoming, with very helpful information about local attractions. Thanks to them, we found beautiful and misty lakeside walks, even if umbrellas were sometimes required! As well as this, the local village of Windemere offered a wide range of pubs and restaurants. At Ivy Bank, our room was cosy and peaceful, featuring a unique, beautifully carved antique headboard, as well as a very comfortable bed. Altogether an unforgettable stay!

Perfect location. Close to some great shops and restaurants. Wasn’t too far from Lake Windermere, which is where we headed after checking in. Hosts were very friendly and provided some useful leaflets and guides in our room. The room was tidy with comfy beds and was just what we needed. The breakfast was delicious. They have a menu which includes a full English or veggie English but you can also ask for individual items if you don’t want too much. They also have cereals and toast with jam or marmalade. Overall a pleasant and enjoyable stay. Thank you Nikki and Garreth :)
