A very walk welcome. Wonderful hospitality and a lovely comfortable twin bedded room overlooking the garden. We enjoyed an excellent breakfast allowing for dietary needs. I look forward to visiting again. Convenient with on site parking

Kingsmede b& b is a period house dating to the late 1700,s
Inside the property Chris the owner has kept the furnishings to that period, with a large double bed very comfortable, en suite toilet and large 🚿. The room is quite big with windows to front and side, very clean  throughout  
 everything you would need is provided , iron , hairdryer etc, there is a fridge situated on the landing  for your use ,also a variety of snacks and soft drinks available to purchase with a honesty box,  large rear garden , ample on site parking, breakfast is large and cooked to perfection with a wide and varied choice all locally sourced.

The area of Whitwell is designated a dark sky area ,but also quite close to  Ventnor and other coastal areas , a charming village with lots of thatched roofs.

The local pub  The  white horse is also worth a  visit  the food  is excellent, with a good choice of ales, both my wife and I were made to feel very welcome , and we would honestly recommend staying here.


The property is a period house and the owner Chris has kept it to that style, very clean with a excellent breakfast cooked to perfection by Chris with a wide and varied choice of food.Whitwell is a designated dark sky area with some very pretty houses lots of thatched roofs,the local pub is only a few minutes walk and well worth a visit,the food is excellent.I would definitely recommend a stay at Kingsmede ,it fulfilled all my wife and I hopes

Good choice for a dog friendly B&B. Comfortable, clean room, with parking and garden. Character property in a small village, great location for exploring the island.Friendly and helpful host, who does a fantastic breakfast to set you up for the day!Recommended.

Property provided a home from home experience with superb breakfast the icing on the cake. Information was available in lounge but the host gave so much more giving us an extremely enjoyable couple of days. Will be returning in the future.

Excellent in every way. We spent a lovely week here at 'Kingsmede'. Chris and Kelly were the perfect hosts and made us feel genuinely welcome from the minute we arrived. There was a good choice at breakfast and their 'full English' was of generous proportion using all locally-soured ingredients. The location of Kingsmede was also perfect for exploring the south coast with private parking and a really good pub serving evening meals just 2 minutes walk away . Thanks ! A great stay.  D and G.

We really enjoyed our stay at Kingsmede. It’s much more characterful than the photos on the booking site suggested with an interesting history & period features. Our spacious clean room (Red Squirrel) overlooked the lovely gardens. Chris is a friendly & helpful host, welcoming our dog with treats. He provided a lovely breakfast featuring local produce & home made marmalade. The mini fridge on the landing with glass decanters of milk and water for each room made a lovely change from UHT in plastic pots. Would definitely stay again.

Excellent, homely stay! Had an amazing time with our hosts after finding this little hidden gem on a booking site. The property has lots of character, the hosts are lovely, and the rooms cosy, well appointed and also full of character and warmth. Little touches were taken care of, with a mini fridge for milk and water for every room at the top of the stairs and a wonderful breakfast. 
The pub in the village made for a gorgeous dinner stop, as recommended by our hosts. Definitely recommend Kingsmede, we’ll be back again!

Very welcoming host and comfortable and clean property. Fantastic breakfast. We felt very much at home and relaxed here. We only stayed for 2 nights but would have loved stayed longer. Definitely recommend.

A most enjoyable stay

Welcoming and friendly hosts and a great breakfast. The kingsize bed was really comfortable and the room was lovely and quiet - we stayed in the Butterfly room which has dual aspect windows to the front and side. Loved that there was a fridge outside the room with fresh milk and drinking water and that there was no plastic packaging on the tea tray. There was the possibility of seeing red squirrels in the garden, although we didn't see any during our stay. The garden is also great for stargazing where you can see hundreds of stars and just about see the Milky Way on a clear night. The only downside was that I think there may have been a leak in the bathroom as it smelled of damp. Great value at £80 for 2 people including breakfast and free off-road parking. The pub nearby was good for dinner and had lots of boardgames for rainy days.

Delightful place to stay

Homely and full of character!

You read reports or sometimes book things blind but, its not until you turn up that you know you have made the right decision. Right from the go, we were greeted by Chris and made to feel welcome, the rooms are clean well maintained. The Breakfast was excellent and set you up for a day on the beach or travelling around the sites. 

I wont hesitate to book Kingsmede whenever we are on IOW.

Just what you hope for

Excellent B&B, decent sized bedroom with en-suite. Clean, tidy and nicely decorated. Tea/ coffee making facilities in room. Good choice of breakfast- full English was really tasty 😋. Quiet location, with parking.

Pub serving good range of food and decent beers etc, just a short walk away. 

Chris is great host, definitely recommend and would return. 
Overall, fantastic experience. 


Comfortable B&B

Excellent accommodation and a warm welcome from the hosts. Situated between Freshwater and Ventnor, Kingsmede is an ideal location to search the island. Spacious, comfortable and quiet with added extra touches of milk in the fridge and the opportunity to buy cold cans of soft drink and chocolate. Plenty of tea and coffee in the rooms and mugs that are a decent size. Breakfast has a wide choice, I opted for filter coffee with a cooked breakfast and it was amazing. Spending time in the large garden after the journey to the island or a long walk is ideal. I have already recommended Kingsmede to friends and family

Definitely recommended

From the moment Chris opened the door we felt welcome. We stayed in the Butterfly Room which was nicely decorated and clean. Lovely big shower in the bathroom. Breakfast was gorgeous, cooked fresh, a wide range of cereals, fruit and yoghurt was also available. If you like a home from home vibe, then this is the place to stay. We will be returning to stay again. Thank you so much for a lovely comfy stay.
