Stayed here for a weekend while going out in Newcastle. A good basic hotel, nothing to write home about but at the end of the day we weren't in the hotel much, we were out most of the time. The hotel staff were friendly it is well situated for going in the short taxi ride to Newcastle, however we did have a great night in Whitley bay itself as the bars and clubs are basically on the hotels doorstep. Overall it wasn't a bad experience.

A basic hotel

Came here recently and what a dirty place, the building was run down, inside was trashed and felt really unhygienic, the rooms had dirty bedding on, full of dust and the bath had mould all over it. I complained at the front desk but basically got told if I didnt like it to go somewhere else, appalling customer service too. Beer tasted watered down massively and thugs hung around outside all hours of they day and night, looked like they were selling drugs at some points. There is so much nicer places to stay in the area that I would prefer, to be honest a hostel would provide more satisfaction than this dump. I would save your money and go somewhere clean and comfortable.

Absolutely disgusting 

So I booked the cheapest place I could find that was not too far from the Playhouse Theatre where I was going to see a show. I am quite glad I booked the cheapest one, because there are loads of other b&bs in that street and considering the number of bars as well, I am sure the noise is the same for all people who try and sleep. 
the staff was nice. I will give you that. One of them was hoovering the stairs when we came back from a little walk and said it was hard work. Yes. It is! Too bad they don't do much of it in the rooms.
Where to start??? carpet is quite dirty, the floor in the bathroom was disgusting. It was like someone had gone for a walk in a field and came back with muddy boots and left most of it to dry on the lino. The edge of the bath was so dusty you cannot even think that it had ever been cleaned. The bottom of the toilet pan was brown. 
I tried contacting the place as I wanted to change my single occupancy booked on booking.com to a twin one, but I had a lot of difficulty reaching anyone. Only to be told it could not be changed. OK. So my friend booked another room. It would have made sense for them to put us together and keep a room free for other guests, but it seems impossible for them to do that. Oh well. When we got there, the rooms they were supposed to give us was destroyed by a stag night guests the night before so they gave us 2 rooms with a common bathroom. It didn't bother us as we were together anyway. But what if we were not? I wouldn't have shared my bathroom with complete strangers.. bit weird! 
Seriously, the bathroom was disgusting. stains of I don't know what on the inside doors and on the floor. 
Considering the dirt everywhere, we are not sure the bedding were actually clean to be honest. I did not check the state of the mattresses because i was worried of what I might have found. 
The place is noisy with people coming back late at night and talking in the staircase. The bedroom doors don't close easily. which probably means they don't open easily either if someone tries to come in. Someone actually tried to open my door during the night. 
You can hear the music from the nearby bars. The Hush bar was closed, thankfully. I cannot imagine the noise around this place in the summer... 
If you can afford more, go somewhere else, unless you are there with friends for a stag do and you really don't care about dirt. 
I wouldn't recommend girls/women to stay there. Boys probably care less about cleanliness.

so dirty!

I could highlight the many problems with this place but the other reviews cover it. I can simply summarise it as this:

After waiting for an hour in the reception, we were not greeted by anyone. Having called the two numbers given to us, there was no response. Between the kicked-in doors and the constant smell of weed, it was clear this place wasn't still running.

We have not heard back and to put it simply, we have been robbed of £70. 

Do not stay here. It's run by criminals and should be shut down. People in the area informed us that it is used by teenagers as a spot to drink and do drugs.

Criminal

Check in by telephone to be told key is in the room. Opened the broken kicked in door and found an empty room with 2 beds and a kettle. no cups ,no tv ,no toilet, roll ,no towels, no curtains. Ripped carpet, ripped wallpaper. As john says below im sure a prison cell would be nicer and far more hygeinic. I walked out this hotel after 5 minutes and i reconment you dont put yourself in that situation. I know its cheap but all of ehitley bay is so do not book this place you have been warned
