We have stayed at Penny Hedge every time we visit Whitby. Last year it had started to go down hill but now it is under new management things have picked up again, especially the cleaning.Last year you had to request cleaning, this year room was cleaned without having to request.Breakfast has also improved again.

Lovely staff and slept well. Was lovely to be greeted by the same person when we arrived. Karl was polite and helpful with all needs. Will stay again. There was lots on offer for breakfast also accommodated any request. Room was clean and they checked if the room was warm enough on arrival.

Visited today as under new management. Excellent service. Thoroughly enjoyed. Would highly recommend. The menu was really nice. Can’t wait to visit again. Thank you for a positive experience we will visit again and again highly recommend

Our second visit to pennyhedge and everything as nice as before , staff friendly and room cozy and clean .we were in room six this time and it was lovely , maybe a little smaller than our previous room but still nice .the pillows were lovely and soft.  Our breakfast  also good . Not far to get to from the town and it’s handy having the pub next to the rooms for any food.

We have stayed a couple of times and had a brilliant time.
The hotel is clean and comfortable, rooms are nice and quiet. Parking is onsite and it’s a short walk to Whitby. Taxis are cheap if you want to get one back up the hill!
The staff are so lovely, they really make a difference, right from arriving, they are welcoming and friendly.
The pub has a good collection of food and drinks and offers good value for money. It’s warm and welcoming and so convenient for the hotel.
The breakfast is highly recommended, really nice and fantastic value, served by lovely staff.

Fabulous place to stay when visiting Whitby we never stay anywhere else. Parking on site which is an added bonus , the hotel and restaurant are both spotless along with the most amazing staff who are a credit to the hotel . Meals are always fresh and tasty and the most important thing is the food is always hot . It's only about 15_20 minutes walk into the centre of Whitby but you can always catch the bus . Thanks again see you soon .

Come here a lot and have also stayed in the b and b side. Cannot fault anything at all. Clean comfortable rooms. Breakfast lunch dinner always fabulous. Sunday lunch great also. Staff always friendly attentive and service always excellent. 😃

Stayed at the pennyhedge for 1 night. Room was clean and had everything we needed for a short stay. Had an evening meal and breakfast at the pub attached. Food was really good value for money, served piping hot. Great service and really friendly staff. We’d definetly go back here again

Staff were all excellent, without exception: all friendly and very helpful.
Check in process was smooth, bar/restaurant great, breakfast was lovely and evening meal delicious.
Room was very comfortable and clean, parking was easy.
So all in all, a very positive experience for the money thank you!

Not a bad Penny! What a Great Place, Dog friendly with vegan options perfect for the modern fussy family, friendly and welcoming staff make for a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere that is worth the little extra in the prices, but the food is great and worth that also and you could even stay the night! Good venue but hidden so need to promote more. Dogs are made to feel as guests which is great.
