Really lovely stay. Our room was very comfortable and clean. No complaints from us. Staff were friendly. Very happy that the check out time was 12 at no additional cost, this was a lovely surprise.also liked that the TV didn't go above a certain volume. It was the relaxation we needed.

Premier Inn are in the midst of upgrading this hotel. The family room we were in was one of the smallest family rooms I've stayed in but was adequate (and I suspect the main family rooms were being renovated so may be temporary) and was the cheapest I've paid for a hotel room for a long time.

The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable and everything worked as it should.

Worth noting that the ongoing renovations did not cause us any disturbance at all.

Perfect for what we used it for, a safe, clean base for the family to use to visit attractions in the area.

We had a fantastic weekend the room was a premiere plus room which was fab, especially the little extras like mag safe built into the bedside, the bottles of water in the fridge, the bathroom had a rain shower which was great. The lady on reception I didn’t get her name but she was fantastic always there with a welcoming smile and a quick chat very polite and accommodating she’s a credit to your team.

Pleasantly surprised, from the outset it was a very pleasant experience, warm welcome and easy check in, fantastic breakfast with lovely staff - nice room and very quiet - we had a free choice of 3 hotels at this location - So glad we chose Premier inn as other members of our family stayed in the others and weren't impressed !

The staff here are super helpful, friendly and provide a great service.  We used it as a base to celebrate our brothers 40th and daughters 18th.  It was a great weekend. On the Saturday we went to the local park and drove to the e beach on the afternoon.

Took the grandsprogs away for a couple of days, first to Beamish Living Museum and, the following day, on the way back home, to The Forbidden Corner.
This Premier Inn was close to Beamish and, as we are Whitbread Shareholders, we get certain perks, although the online booking procedure for Premier Inns doesn't have a facility for this.
We had a great day at Beamish and arrived about 4.30 to check in.
The receptionist was very friendly and efficient and the family room was spotless but, not enough towels for the four of us. Problem?
Absolutely not! Sorted within two minutes.
The restaurant only does breakfasts, but there is a Toby Inn on site. But we don't like carveries!
However, the receptionist recommended Champs Sports Bar across the road as having better, freshly-cooked food and better value for money. So we went there, and were glad we did.
Back in the room, the bathroom has soft lighting so we were able to leave the door open a bit as a nightlight and put the kids to bed.
The beds were extremely comfy and a good nights sleep was enjoyed by all.
Good, hearty, unlimited breakfast the following morning, and the issue with the Shareholder Cards was sorted by the manager and the money returned to my card.
Would heartily recommend this hotel.

we loved the hotel ,great service , really nice breakfast a very good variety of food plus the coffee was amazing . the rooms have just been revamped very comfortable , we liked it that much we are going back in september.  the rooms can be quite expensive , so try to book about a month in advance through tripadvisor  for a better rate.

We were going to a friends party at Champs so the location is great (as was Champs!). 

From the welcome to leaving, staff were great and friendly. The room we were in must have been updated recently as it seemed very fresh and well equipped. 

Janice who helped us check in and was on duty when we returned from our night out was lovely. A real asset to the hotel. 

We’d definitely recommend a stay.

Great location near the wonderful city of Sunderland, well worth a visit. We also enjoyed visiting the historic town of Chester-le-Street, and also Durham too. 

We stayed overnight as a family of four to visit Beamish over the Christmas period. From the start to finish of our stay, every member of staff we encountered was professional, genuine and incredibly personable with a great work ethic. Nothing was too much! Our youngest son has some food allergies and staff covering breakfast were kind,  professional and attentive and put him (and us) at complete ease. We would love to return! Thank you so much.

Just what you want from a Premier Inn hotel

Great weekend away

Good place to stay

third stay at Washington Premier Inn - first time with all four of the family - husband and two older boys. Rooms have been recently refurbed so decor and cleanliness was better than average. Actually, room facilities etc far exceeded what you'd expect for the price. I think we paid around £150 for two nights in a family room with breakfast (kids eat free deal). We chose the hotel because of it's location, being central to the various family members we were visiting in South Shields, Durham, Gateshead and Newcastle - it was easy enough to get to and from the A1 but far enough away that there were no issues with traffic noise. 

Family room was a king bed, a single and put up bed - the put up bed had been placed in between the single and king, meaning three of us would need some acrobatic skill to climb out of the bed without standing  on each other - we managed to manoeuvre the put up bed to the end of the other beds meaning it was all a little less claustrophobic and much easier with older boys! Beds were very comfortable.

Stand out part of the whole visit was the friendliness of the staff - the two boys were made to feel welcome and were involved rather than being seen as an inconvenience - welcome was clear and kind after a long journey on a Friday evening and staff at breakfast were again, warm and welcoming and joking with the boys. 

Rooms were quiet through the night, breakfast was plentiful - husband declined a cooked breakfast one morning and was offered porridge so just lovely little bits of extra attention made all the difference. Really hope Premier Inn acknowledge and reward their staff who made a quick weekend away feel a little bit more special.

We  stayed here last weekend as we were going to Beamish Museum.  We had a family room (Double bed, single bed and travel cot). The room was on ground floor. Room was clean and beds were comfy. Breakfast was filling and kept us all full for most of the day. There is a Toby Carvery directly opposite. All the staff we met were lovely. Would stay here again.

Overnight stay

Excellent breakfast, probably the best in the Premier group, served to order from the kitchen. What makes it stand out is the wonderful friendly welcome you get when you go in from Sharon. Top marks to all the hard working staff and Ryan the chef who cooks sausage, bacon and (poached) eggs to perfection. Our favourite breakfast spot in the region.
