What a lovely warm,friendly hotel.The food was delicious and extremely good value well done.
The hotel is situated close to New Brighton Station which is handy for those of us who fancy a Xmas drink.
New Brighton itself is just a short walk away with a cinema and a theatre.


Annual luncheon for around 60 guests. Food superb and service that would not be  out place on a top London restaurant. This venue deserves to be on everyone’s go to list especially when organising a function. Thank you to the waiting on staff who were friendly and efficient.

We have been dining here for ever, always a great welcome and service. Nothing is to much trouble for mr. Carruthers the owner. An oldie worldie comfortable reception room with delightful dining. The food is always cooked to perfection and always fresh.

We met friends from Wallasy for lunch at this hotel. Strange place, looks empty and we seemed to be the only ones. Anyway, we were well received and the food was delicious. Well presentend and beautifully cooked. Felicitations to the chef. But still strange to be all alone. Dont know about the rooms but the restaurant can be highly recommended.

Fantastic venue place

We are former local residents of the local area and thought it would be a nice idea to visit this hotel.

The building itself has a lot of nostalgic charm and an appeal that would have appealed to many before cleanliness was an essential prerequisite.

Regardless, the the repugnant presence of the the sleazy, overbearing and beyond rude owner was unacceptable.

We left without eating - witnessing how we spoke to us, fellow patrons AND staff; having claimed to have over 40 years experience in this form of hospitality, I fail to see that he has learned from even a day from it: avoid, avoid, avoid.

Never Again

i  was attending a masonic lodge dinner with my wife,mother in law parents and two children and other family and friends and were told by the head of the lodge and organiser that we could bring our own drink which we had done on other occasions we were having a three course meal while in the midst of our main course the so called owner approached my 15yr old daughter and took her 4pack 0f j20s off her that where in her bag as were all the other drinks for our table bearing in mind we had to be split from the rest of our party because hollins hey had messed up seating arrangements my son stood up and took hold of the bag because he said he was confiscating the drinks because it was not allowed then preceded to try and wrestle the bag out of a teenagers hand at this point i stood up and took hold of the bag and the owners behaviour and attitude was an utter disgrace in front of children and oap's he told me his revenue was suffering due to people bringing their own drinks in but it was agreed by the masonic lodge he said while trying now to wrestle the bag out of my hand it was his hotel and he could do what he wanted i didn't let go of the bag and he finally backed down but said we were not going to be served the rest of our meal but demanded another £15 for corkage on top of the other £5 we had already paid after a while i went to talk to him about his behaviour in front of my family and his response was ahh diddums which made me lose my temper and up to that point i had been quite calm and collect so at that point i did use a few colourful words but he was only brave because a few lads from the kitchen had come out to back him up so they got a few words from me in the end he extorted money from my 86 year old father 15 pounds to serve my family the rest of their meal i was fuming overall a totally bad experience of the hollins hey hotel i would advise people to shop around because if you complain about anything not that i was complaining but read other reviews his attitude is its my hotel i can treat and speak to you any way i like and even when we were leaving he called us names  which i retaliated with more choice words the owner was a bully and a disgrace i can honestly say i would never set foot in that place luckily its closing down not surprised if thats how he runs things
