Had a great evening  with family and friends the staff were fantastic always with a smile and couldn't do enough and the food was delicious, the liver and bacon was the best I ever had and the puddings were homemade and so tasty,the chicken liver pate was amazing, love the chef coming out and asking how everything was as a proper chef does,  great country pub and would recommend

Great food and staff

Went for an evening meal which was great!  Really good choice for GF and excellent service.  Food was prompt to arrive, tasty and attentive staff.  Especially enjoyed meeting Duncan!  Good value, plenty of parking, no negatives from us!

Lovely evening meal.

My wife and I went for lunch here today. We had appetisers and a main each. The food was truly wonderful. I've included some photos, but in each case, we'd already eaten a bit, so anyone reading this needs to take that into account. Best food I've had anywhere for several years. AND the service was both friendly and speedy.

Brilliant in every respect

This pub has new management and has a steep hill to climb, courtesy of the previous tenant, in terms of bad reviews, I am local and after a dreadful couple of years of poor management I'm pleased to say we have our pub back!!!! My wife and I have now had two meals and several visits under our belts and we are both very happy to eat and drink here. If you had a bad experience here and vowed never to come back please give it another try, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Good luck to the new owners.

I had a wonderful time in this beautiful country pub that has been loving restored to its former glory. I heard that the place had been taken over by a new owner and decided to make the trip to enjoy dinner with friends. 

The place looks so much better than before and a clear sign of effort from the new team. The bar was busy as it was a Friday evening but we were served quickly and looked after by the bar staff. I ordered two meals, the fish and chips and BBQ chicken - I tried both and both were delicious. The new menu was extensive and I will be heading back to try the Sunday roast, which looks amazing on their Instagram, and I can't wait. 

Amazing restoration, wonderful atmosphere and beautiful food ... Well worth the visit!

My wife and I visited the Old Vine as heard it had been taken over again. We were glad we did as the Food and staff were excellent, very welcoming and we will definitely be back as live locally. I had the lamb shank and and my wife had the vegetarian pie both were delicious .

Lunch

We went to The Old Vine with friends and all had a superb meal.   My own choice, the Risotto Con Fonduta, was absolutely spectacular as well as truly delicious - highly recommended and I can guarantee you won't be hungry after that!  It's just a pity I didn't have my phone and so can't post a photo....    The other diners had venison and sea bass and those choices were equally good, as were the desserts.  The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and we had very good service too.  Altogether, it was a great meal and a very pleasant evening. 

Delicious meal in a warm and friendly ambiance

We had lunch after a very pleasant 2 hour walk around Bewl water, the lane next to the pub leads straight to the waters edge. The restaurant was warm and welcoming. The food was truly excellent. If you’re looking for somewhere to go which is full of history, with roaring log fires, professional staff were very friendly and full of local info who take their jobs seriously, a cosy and warm atmosphere and properly good food - this is the place for you! - The chef is from Napoli and makes his own pasta and pizza dough its just like eating in a family restaurant in Tuscany

16th Century inn, great food & atmosphere

We stopped here on the off chance, tired, hungry and couldn’t be bothered to cook.

What a discovery.   Warm friendly service, and superb food.
The pasta was very tasty.   I could easily have eaten a second plate.
My husband’s chicken was moist, sweet and juicy.

A lovely warm friendly pub atmosphere, with lots of friendly banter.

I have to be honest and say the deserts were nothing special, but with starters and main course so good.   Who cares?

Best pasta I have had in ages.

A birthday celebration with friends and we all enjoyed a first class meal. The saltimbocca  was particularly good, the best we’ve ever had. Brilliant new  Italian chef, great service and a very welcoming atmosphere. A historic country pub not to be missed.
