An amazingly friendly bar , felt totally at ease , the room was so comfortable , an amazing powerful shower , I have hip issues , the bed was so comfortable  , amazing woke up feeling great , great choice of cereal at breakfast along with a superb cooked breakfast that was amazing !!!!

Stayed for two nights. Room was spotless and very comfortable Sonia was an excellent host even going so far as to  prepare me a meal when i had finished
 work late  Highly recommended and i will definitely return 

The City Inn Truro is in the perfect location in Cornwall and within 4 minutes walk to shops and cathedral. The room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The shower was excellent and Sonia was a very friendly host. We booked through a voucher and were supersized to see so many bad reviews as we highly recommend it.

What a fantastic little place. I was put in the flat which was amazing and I have to say the staff were super friendly. 
If you look at prices of other places do not be put off by this place based on low cost, it is located perfectly for the town, and is clean, well looked after, and has all the mod cons you need. 
The breakfast was cooked fresh and delicious.
Will 100% stay here again if ever back in Truro!!!

We stayed here for a few nights using a voucher we had received and was the only one available in the area. After reading the reviews- we were a little worried. And boy were we wrong- it was a lovely stay.
Myself, my partner and dog came to stay- on arrival were nicely greeted and shown to our clean, and modern comfortable room. The lady who greeted us, was very pleasant and welcoming.
Breakfast next morning- cooked to order was amazing, even our little dog got a little breakfast for him! Again, staff very pleasant. 
We had a drink in here, pleasant, nice outdoor seating area out back.
Breakfast the morning after was equally as pleasant, the dog also agrees! 
This was just a base point for us to visit Newquay so only used it to sleep and have breakfast and it definitely served its purpose and would visit again. Clean, pleasant and decent breakfast to set you up for the day! 

Simple basic ensuite rooms above a local pub. Comfy and quiet considering I was at the front. Could have benefit from the heat being on! Beware that the included breakfast does not include hot options! 

Excellent weekend stay at this charming pub. Friendly staff and clean comfortable accommodation. Very short walk into Truro with all its shops and places to eat although the food, entertainment and facilities at The City Inn might make you want to relax there.

Friendly and very welcoming locals' traditional pub (bar games, beer garden, range of real beers) with comfortable rooms - not 'boutique' or 'trendy' but clean and comfortable basic rooms with ensuite showers and everything one could want on the breakfast front (proper local bacon and sausage) at very reasonable prices. The staff could not have been more friendly and welcoming. The pub is in a quiet location but only a short walk away from shops, restaurants, cathedral and bus station in the centre of Truro. An excellent base from which to explore Cornwall for a few days. A lot of the negative reviews on TA date from before there was a change of management. The new landlady has ambitious plans to improve the place over time without changing the best aspects of its old fashioned pub ethos. There are still a few minor niggles but the landlady is aware of these issues and working on them. Meals not available every evening but we enjoyed the Friday evening "Balkan BBQ".  We had a single and a twin room to the side front and rear of the pub so we were not disturbed by noise and both rooms had enough space. If you want 'up market with all the trimmings' go elsewhere, if you want a bed and a good breakfast in a convenient location for a decent price and friendly people to chat to in the bar then stay here. We would certainly go back here again if in Truro and would recommend it to our friends.

Simple basic good value

I purchased a voucher for my parents for Christmas 2019, as they love Cornwall we searched through offer and found this lovely B and B, I booked for June but due to dads health and COVID restrictions and the fact he was shielding they were unable to go, I contacted Sheila and she was happy to change booking to September and was very helpful.
My parents have just returned home to tell me of their experience...they arrived at city inn, no parking they had to park down the road and walk, plus pay for it , no one to welcome them, dad called number he had they eventually let them in (6 hour drive) 4.30 in the evening!
Dad asked why they wasn’t in the room they were promised, sonia told them the man who was in there wasn’t ready to go do they let him stay...fair enough, but then she approached them half an hour later saying she was fed up of people purchasing vouchers and expecting 5star treatment, she then went on to say she has a new agreement to take on NHS staff and only agreed to my parents using the voucher had bought them as a one off!!

Made my parents feel very uncomfortable! 
I’m sad she felt the need to mention this to them, along with poor hygiene, breakfast and dinner times erratic, as well as portions and service!
I understand times are difficult and leading up to my parents visit, sonia was helpful and seemed to want to go above and beyond, unfortunately this wasn’t the case for this establishment!

Disappointing 

There were five of us in total, in 3 different rooms, 1 x double, 1 x Twin and 1 x Family [1 double & 1 single bed]  The double room was by far the 'best' room , the facilities in the room were good although the shower was very inconsistent, it would go from freezing to boiling and back again without the controls being touched, I didn't feel it safe for my 8yr old granddaughter to use.
My other granddaughter was sharing the family room with her parents, the supplies in their room were sadly lacking despite being more than twice the cost of a double ... 2 x plastic sachets for bathroom use and no bottled water on the tea tray, the carpet was dirty and the furniture old and tatty.
The twin room has no wardrobe and the kitchens extractor vent goes right through it.
The cooked breakfast was nice and hot, but cereal in a bowl to serve yourself from, soft and inedible  !!
The landlady was very pleasant and I'm sure she's doing her best, but BIG improvements are required here.
