25 reviewsIf you have an early morning flight from Stansted airport I would recommend a stay at this guest house. Rooms are clean and a reasonable size especially if you get the front room. However be prepare that English is not the mother tongue of the owners but you are in a foreign country anyway, so who cares. If you want to eat and drink you have a choice of 2 pubs at either end of the village. I went out of the hotel and turned right to the "Lion and Lamb". A great old English village pub. The beers were reasonably priced, the lamb dinner was excellent and very tasty. As a discerning New Zealander I know my lamb and I can say "compliments to the chef". The people in the pub are just normal folk and it was a pleasant change from the rat-race of London that I had come from. I was even given a lift back to the guest house which saved me a miserable walk in the rain late a night. I would definitely go back to the "Lion and Lamb" for the good food and the local comradeship that this pub offers.
