my friends and I only stayed overnight, arriving early evening and left early morning but the room was clean and the staff were polite. I received a phone call shortly before arrival from a staff member asking if we would be eating with them and if they should reserve a table which was very nice of them. the land lady had a very sweet dog who came to greet us and say goodbye to us.

A fabulous stay. Lovely rural location, fabulously spacious and comfortable room. The bed was really comfy. The greeting and service were outstanding, as is the food served.

The evening staff were friendly on checkin and dining - they couldn’t have been more helpful. The service was excellent and food fabulous.The room was comfortable and clean.Breakfast was lovely but only one staff member doing everything and feel he was struggling a little.I would highly  recommend this Hotel and would stay again

The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. I would have given a full five star if there had been a bath in my en-suite bathroom.

What a lovely one night stay . Staff were very friendly and helpful . Room was lovely and clean and the bed was so comfy . We arrived about 7.30pm and were able to have dinner which was excellent . Breakfast had lots of selection to chose from . Had a lovely chat with the owner and her beautiful dog over breakfast before we sadly had to leave . Would highly recommend, it was so much nicer than staying in a big chain hotel .

A wonderful one night stay. Immediately made to feel welcome on arrival and our room was big and super clean with a lovely comfy bed. We hadn’t booked the table as we were uncertain of our arrival time but they were able to squeeze us in. The food was some of the best we have had and all homemade! Desserts to die for. We only had a continental breakfast as we were still full from dinner but again the toast was made with delicious bread. Would definitely recommend this hotel to stay and to eat.

Friday night stopover

The Bolingbroke arms/hotel was a excellent place to stay and was superior in every way to establishments that charge 3x more, the staff the room and the food excels in all ways , we would highly recommend a short or long stay here and you will not be disappointed, I have stayed at countless hotels/pubs over many decades and the Bolingbroke was the best by far for value.

Booked in for an overnight stay with my wife and 13yo son as we were visiting friends in the area. From the moment we arrived until we left the service and hospitality was first class. Our room was basic but was spotlessly clean and what struck me was it had a fresh smell about it. The room had everything you need for a one night stopover. We decided to have our evening meal in the restaurant/pub and the service and food was top class. We each had a different meal and none of the dishes disappointed. The breakfast in the morning was based on whatever you wanted ..plenty of fruit and cereal with the hostess willing to cook anything you wanted. The overnight stay plus evening meal was very reasonably priced and I could not recommend this establishment high enough.

Little Gem

We arrived early but were warmly welcomed by Robert and his staff.  Our Room (Room 8) was large, slightly old fashioned and therefore welcomed.  Standard double bed (very comfortable), large bathroom with a decent sized shower cubicle and very good quality towels etc.  Tea and Coffee making facilities in the room.  No in-room telephone but who needs them these days?  
On return to the hotel (taxis both ways booked for us by the hotel) had a drink in the bar (very reasonably priced)  The dining areas and the bar area were very busy with family groups and their food looked delicious.  After a good nights sleep, went down for breakfast where the meals are cooked to order.  I had the best Full English I have had for a very long time.  I thoroughly recommend this hotel for its comfort and customer service.  The young girls who were acting as waitresses or bar staff were all pleasant and very efficient.  Such a treat after the off-hand service that passes as normal in so many, more expensive, establishments.  

One night stopover

Not bad overall but the room was cold at night and we were told there will be no heating due to it affecting the whole building, so we had to dress up warmer as the blankets weren't good enough.There were some bugs in the room, probably due to it being on first floor and they come in when the windows are open. Not a big deal for us. If you worry about spiders then make sure to ask them to sweep for them before going in.

Fine stay

We started in a different pub restaurant down the road and we were struggling to pick anything nice  from the menu 

So we left and headed up the road and came across This restaurant. 

We had been here some years earlier and as far as I remember it was ok. I don’t know why we left it so long to come back. 

We really enjoyed this meal. Everything we ordered was very tasty with the exception of my Crab Cakes starter, couldn’t taste the crab and for the money it was a little lacking in the amount on the plate. 

But everything else we ordered was plentiful and very tasty. No long wait times and the service was excellent and delivered with a smile. And no one called us GUYS once!! 

So, good food, excellent service, not a bad price. Will we be back? I think so.

Really enjoyed this place

Lovely Inn on outskirts of Swindon by Lydiard Park. Friendly staff nothing too much trouble. Room was large with comfy beds ample tea/coffee. En-suite was clean and well sized except square shower cubicle was a little small when you’re used to one a bit larger. Breakfast cooked to order with quality ingredients. Large free car park. Definitely book again as a regular visitor and prefer the character Inn over clinical Travelodge type hotel.
