Having stayed in the guest house 4 years ago, we were pleased that we were able to book to stay in the apartment now that, sadly, the guest house has closed.

We had a lovely time and it is sad to think that we shall not be able to have another stay here, but we wish Alan all the best in his retirement.

I have been staying in Swanage since I was a child. The Caythorpe is by far the best place in which I have stayed.  Food excellent, bed comfortable, near amenities of the town and the beach. Alan and his staff do so much for us, nothing is too much trouble. Thankyou for another fantastic stay

We enjoyed yet another 6 nights at this excellent bed and breakfast! Everything is first class and the welcome and expertise from Alan and his team is second to none!
With covid still restricting,the breakfast sittings were spaced to enable guests to feel comfortable and enjoy the delicious full English or other options

Without question a perfect position to sample the delights of Swanage. You only need to put your feet together for a short time to experience everything this wonderful town has to offer. The owner is attentive and friendly without being "too much" providing an establishment which is spotlessly clean and modern. The fabulous breakfast (veggie also) just ices the cake and gives us the perfect opportunity to return to the room at the front.

We stayed at Caythorpe House for 5 nights earlier this month in a Premier Twin Bedded room. Obviously, COVID has played havoc with availability and pricing for UK holidays. On top of that we booked this trip much later in the day than we would normally do and took something of a punt on both Swanage and Caythorpe House. However, we were not disappointed in either. We were attracted to Caythorpe House by excellent reviews and its location close to the town and beach. It’s run by Alan who was attentive, hospitable and helpful in every respect. He made us feel personally welcome, something you don’t always get in a hotel. There is parking, although a couple of the spaces can often be blocked in and can require a little shuffling round depending on guests’ plans for the day. Alan is always on top of this and it for us seemed a small price to pay for having the car close to hand. The room itself was clean, spacious, modern in decor and comfortable. And, finally, the breakfast was ample and always tasted freshly cooked. We’d have no hesitation in staying there again in the future. Swanage itself was delightful too so we’re very satisfied with our hasty choice.

A friend and I stayed 4 nights at Caythorpe House and would highly recommend it. My single room on the 1st floor was delightful  and spotlessly clean. I managed to find a safe parking spot in a road nearby for the duration of my stay.  A good menu choice  for breakfast which was excellent.  Alan was happy to discuss our daily trips out with good advice. Overall, a well-managed Guest House  which included a comfortable  Sitting Room for the guests.

I have stayed here a few times now over the years, and always try to come back every year, the only reason to not come back is that the B&B is booked out.  The B&B itself is in the perfect location for the beach, the town or the lovely walks to Dalston or Old Harry.  The B&B is nice and airy and the rooms are all beautifully decorated and spacious.  Alan is a wonderful host and makes you feel really welcome.  Breakfast is always 10/10 with coffee and toast top ups a plenty.  There is a welcome pack of goodies in your room to welcome you from your travels and again Alan can't do enough to make sure your stay is comfortable.

Spotlessly clean and in an excellent location just from the seafront. The breakfast was excellent and the host Alan copes extremely well with Covid restrictions. Premier room very comfortable. Alan provides bottled water every day and as much coffee tea etc as required. Added bonus of having a fridge in the room. Alan recommends places to eat but try to book a few days in advance as space is very limited. Recommend the boat trip to Poole. Caythorpe House is perfect for travellers requiring a peaceful stay. There is quite a lot of road noise outside as the guest house is on a road junction however the noise does die down to ensure a good nights sleep. Would definitely recommend Caythorpe House for a stay in Swanage

Our Host Alan and his staff couldn't have been more obliging or helpful, a wonderful room with sea views. Excellent, tasteful décor and well furnished with plenty of clothes hanging space. The breakfast was excellent and with a wide choice despite the Covid  social distancing problems. More than adequate parking and conveniently located near the town centre. Our stay at The Caythorpe was excellent in every respect and we shall certainly book to stay there again. The hygiene and housekeeping was first class.

Alan the owner had thought of everything, nothing was too much trouble. He provided chocolate bars on arrival and each day bottles of water and biscuits along with the usual tea/coffee/milk and hot chocolate.
Alan was knowledgeable about the area and the bus routes.
Each day we had a lovely cooked breakfast as well as cereal and fruit.
The hotel is in a great position with only a 2 minute walk-in one direction to the clean safe beach and 3 minute walk in the opposite direction to town, the steam train and small bus terminal. There was an added bonus of being able to park the car on site.
A child and pet free guest house, all staff were friendly and helpful. The place was spotlessly clean. I would definitely recommend and use again.
