Very beautiful location, Breakfast was good and service was above expectation

Great location at the harbour. We walked back to the Inn after seeing Dunnotar castle,  and had a drink sitting outside. Staff let us store our luggage in advance so we could go out walking, and got us a table for dinner (very popular place). Quieted down later so no problems sleeping. Nice breakfast and we walked around the harbour and town after breakfast.

A really cozy and comfortable room with an incredible view, in an amazing location. Walking over the headlands to Dunnottar Castle was an incredible experience. The view from our room was beautiful, this is such a magical location. Breakfast was delicious, and staff were helpful and very personable. It was a highlight of our three week tour of Scotland.

We had a wonderful harbour view room. The bed and the room were very comfortable. The included full Scottish breakfast each morning was great. There is a pub on the main level of the inn that serves pub food as well. There is also a restaurant next to the pub. What a great visit. We will be back.

Excellent stay at The Ship Inn. Cosy, clean room, helpful and friendly staff. Excellent food - remember to book ahead.

This area is gorgeous!  The staff was so very friendly and the food was great!  The room was clean and comfortable and more than adequate.  The one drawback for some may be that there is no lift.  Lugging suitcases up 3 flights was a workout but it was delightful!!!  Thank you!!

Beautiful inn by the bay. Easy walk into town.

Located right on the harbour, and with a harbour view room was special. The pub itself is very busy, so book dinner if you wish to dine there. Dinner food was great and also the breakfast. There was some Pub noise outside on a Sat night, but not too late. Parking in free council carpark, or street if lucky was easy. Walk to Donnottar Castle out and back from village was excellent. 7 km return. You can also drive to Castle parking lot. Stonehaven was a lovely place to stay.

I live this area.  Great place to see and a wonderful town

Stonehaven is a picturesque village and The Ship Inn is located in the heart of the harbour. The people were friendly and check-in easy. We also enjoyed the cleanliness and care.

Great place to stay!

I loved the Ship Inn.  The staff were very helpful.  The room was perfect for what I was looking for.  It was walkable from the train station.  It was convenient to walk to Dunnottar Castle.  I went out early to run and felt safe.  The locals were friendly.  Lots of cute little restaurants and cafes.  The Ship Inn restaurant was very good.  I would stay again.

I just loved this place. It’s right on the harbor so the views are amazing. The rooms are on the smaller side but they are extremely clean (we saw one of the housekeepers on her hands and knees scrubbing the shower) and comfortable. Amenities are a little dated but it didn’t affect our stay. Definitely make reservations for the restaurant. I had cullen skink there for the first time and it was so good. I dream about it!

Cute and quaint little hotel.

We loved The Ship Inn, Stonehaven. The hotel is right next to the harbour and its wee beach - a lovely outlook. We were greeted warmly and professionally on arrival. Our room was beautiful - spotless, modern, spacious. The restaurant is great - well-run, lovely fresh food, excellent service. We enjoyed our generous breakfast the next morning. This is a cracking wee hotel and I'd recommend it to anybody.

Stonehaven looks like it’s straight out of a movie set. The harbor and shore front boardwalk had stunning views and whimsical public art. Staff members at the Ship’s Inn were lovely, friendly, and attentive. The food was great and options were numerous. Breakfast was better than I’d expected and the portions were more than generous. The only drawback was the comfort of the bed. We found it to be a bit hard for our preference. That being said, I heartily recommend it and will definitely stay there again if the opportunity arises.

We did a day trip from Aberdeen to Stonehaven, and hiked up to Dunnottar Castle.  On the way back we stopped at The Ship Inn for lunch.  Fortunately, they had a table available and we sat by the window overlooking the harbour and had a lovely lunch of cullen skink, fishcakes and a couple of Caledonia best.  It was the perfect meal for a windy September day after a decent hike.  The food was fresh, hot and delicious and the service was great.  It would have been nice to spend a bit more time there, but we had to get back to Aberdeen.  We would visit The Ship Inn again, and definitely recommend it.

A lovely lunch at The Ship Inn

Beautiful location on a small bay. Free parking on the street in front of the Inn. Great restaurant. The trail up the hill ( steep) to the Dunnottar Castle is 3 miles round trip but absolutely worth it if one is able. The room was small but immaculate, lots of hot water, good WiFi and a very reasonable price at the time of this review. I did not see if there was a lift, one flight of steep stairs to our room. Highly recommended.
