We stayed here as a group of 10 for my stag do and have to say value for money was brilliant. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but for a group of friends looking for a cheap place to stay bang in the middle of everything then look no further. Breakfast only consisted of a cuppa and cereal or toast (or both if you're greedy) but what else do you really need after a night out on the town! Spoke the the reception team on numerous occasions before we arrived to go through details and they were very helpful and prompt in their replies. Thanks for helping to make my stag do so enjoyable and hopefully see you soon!

I stayed at Mor Lodge at the end of May, and the staff were just so lovely... especially Tina who went to so much trouble to help me with an issue I had with my plane ticket. She even let me use her phone and waited patiently until it was sorted - many thanks!! Very clean. loads of rooms - staff allow you to stay in dorm on your own if off season. Lovely bar/telly area - will definitely stay there again.

Stag Do

Wonderful staff!!

MOR hostel,  is situated in a perfect location away from all the fuzz of Newquay main street of bars and night clubs. So no loud music in the early hours of the morning, however if u have a sea facing room and u are a light sleeper, the road may keep u up. The rooms are basic, clean and comfortable. The view is epic over looking the harbour, headland and Newquay itself. There are no kettles in the rooms however all is provided downstairs in the kitchen, where u will find a cooker, microwave and 2 fridges for everyone to use. Breakfast has all u need for a good start to your day, with cereals, toast and jam and coffee and tea. More options for your toast would be plus. Honey, peanut butter ...etc. bar area is spacious and has a great range of drinks and best of all there is no noise even after hours.

Staff are very helpful and even helped carry our bags up to our room. Thanks everyone for a hassle free stay and for all your help while there with my wife and little daughter. We had a lovely break away from the normal everyday life.

Great location, a 10-minute walk from Newquay's sandy beach and the rail station.

They don't provide towels in the room but you can get from reception for a small rental charge. 


Lovely View- small and basic room

Its hard to know where to even start, the rooms are beyond basic, stained carpets, iron marks, leaking shower, damp floors, rude staff and ridiculous policies.

We checked in to find that we needed to pay £30 deposit to cover any damages, we then for shown to what can only be described as a prison cell, 8 bunk beds in a space that was barely enough for 4 people, the shower was poor and the floor around it was spongy where it had leaked previously, the toilet seat was loose and the pillows were like sheets of paper and when we asked for extra pillows we were treated like we had insulted the managers mother for even asking.

One of the guys was sick in the night which we had no problem with cleaning up and paying for new bedding but instead were told that we had to lose his £30 deposit and pay a further £5 for new bedding, when we asked for a receipt you would think we insulted her as we were told it was lucky we didn't have to pay more and refused a receipt (makes me think it goes in there pocket) we later found out they sent a member of staff up to check the room while we were out and nothing was done about it.

We were also told that they wouldn't be able to use the room for the week while they got in an industrial cleaner, but found out they had people booked in the night we checked out. We also heard they had charged a previous group in that room for a new carpet as they had burnt it with an iron but the marks were still there. 

The night guy (Paul) is probably one of the rudest and creepiest people you can encounter, he was constantly being rude to the group and told he was "a dangerous man" being an ex member of the SIA (store security) as if it was some sort of threat, we couldn't complain because the manager didn't care.

The breakfast consisted of cheap value teabags, cheap coffee, a poor selection of cornflakes, rice crispies or oats or the alternative of toast.

The bar staff and a couple of day staff were friendly but this was overshadowed by the poor facilities and the staff that were rude, in total we spent £1150 for 3 nights plus what we spent behind the bar, but despite this we were made to feel like we were squatters who had broke in.  

They call there self Newquay's number one venue for Stag and Hen parties, if that's the case it doesn't bode well for the other establishments in Newquay.

The place appears to be up for sale, lets hope who ever buys the place recognises what customer service is and treats the guests better.
