To be honest, you get what you pay for no matter where you go. We chose this hotel because to be honest it was one of the lower costing hotels. On arrival, we were greeted by the owner. He did not Introduce himself which I was rather surprised at. We stayed in room 3 for 4 nights (Monday to Friday). On first inspection, the room was very clean but with a closer look we found that it could have been cleaner. The radiators were thick with dust and there was a large spider crack in the bathroom sink.

The bed was very very creaky but comfy. The furniture was very dated and had a few marks as if items had been dropped on them. We noticed that the bedroom floor was slightly lower then the bathroom floor and a few times the wardrobe moved when you walked too close to it.
Apparently the hotel had free wifi but this was never mentioned to us during our stay.

We were not really aware that the owners were actually a couple as we didnt meet the lady until check out on the Friday morning.

To be honest, Southport wasnt "Holiday" enough for us but it was our first visit there and it would probably be better for a day trip rather then a 4 night break.

Needs a clean and furniture updating.

The owner was not interested in making his guests feel welcome. He did not introduce himself nor did he put on a light; It was dark when we arrived and there was no working outside light. He made no effort to answer queries about local services. Free wifi in all areas is advertised, but the wifi password given in the Welcome Pack was incorrect and no effort was made to correct this; instead my phone was blamed! The premises itself, while handy for the railway station, was old, shabby and not very clean.

Not Welcoming

Stayed here Sept 2017, arrived at the B&B, rang the door bell at least 6 times with no response, eventually the owner (well presume he was the owner, he never introduced himself) answered the door, I said to him I didn't think there was anyone in, he said why is that, I said I had rang the door bell about 6 times, he just said he hadn't heard it, it was a very loud bell! No apology! He shown us to the room, hardly any conversation, very unfriendly, The room itself was ok, a converted attic room, quite dated, a lot of dust on the skirting boards by the radiators and the bed side table covered in marks where cups had been put, the tea bags were obviously cheap ones, tasted rank! Free wifi is offered on the website- as far as I could see there wasn't any. Breakfast was ok, nothing special, a lot of the food used was cheap stuff and swimming in grease. Can't see how they got the 4* rating, I would say its more like a 2*. Stayed here as it was the cheapest one coming up, I wouldn't stay again, would look at paying a bit more in future.

Unfriendly owner who needs to get the duster out

Ahh, this all makes sense now reading the last reviews. I rang to book accommodation here a few years back when i explained it used to be my home and was owned by my grandparents throughout the war. I explained to him that i knew the property had been altered, but it used to consist of 18 rooms, to which the gentleman vehemently denied, said i must be wrong and i must be confused. Now  my grandparents ran it as a guest house throughout the war, was then taken over by my aunt, then my father and i grew up in it for 9 years until 1987, i ask you, who knows more about that property? 
Anyway, apologies for anyone who had a poor experience there, my family prided itself upon providing a happy, warm and enjoyable stay there for everyone that was kind enough to stay. Hopefully someone new will come along to restore it to its former glory.

Unhelpful and arrogant owner

Stop trying to justify yourselves!, this is Southport’s worst hotel! it all you don’t argue with guests customers! There are stuff wrong with the hotel you owners & it’s also The worst hotel ever anywhere ! it’s old shabby Thilthy smelling dirty scuffy old fashioned house unpleasant unwelcoming same as you owners! your  wife walks round with no pants on!, just a dressing gown!, you don’t answer the door when people arrive then you have a go st them for that! you just take people for a run of their money! Breakfast is awful you also claim u don’t own it anymore!!! Beds were so uncomfortable could feel the springs!

We had booked to stay at this bed and breakfast for one night whilst I was working in blackpool. The site we used to book stated that the blackpool tower was 11 miles away from the bnb. I went ahead with the booking as it was close enough for us. When I arrived in blackpool to unload my stock where I was trading, we had less than an hour to rush off and get booked in and get back to actually start trading. The gps then stated it would take us 1 hour and 23 minutes to get there! I thought it must be a mistake as the booking site stated quite clearly 11 miles. I contacted the bnb quite distressed as we were very far from home and needed somewhere to rest out heads after working. The owner stated that he would wait up for us to travel after I had finished working however the event ran over and unfortunately I couldnt get away as early as I had hoped to due to restrictions in packing my stock down whilst customers were on site. I contacted the manager again quite stressed as it was extremely late and I had even further to travel and he was extremely rude to us. 'its a matter of simple geography' he told us. However not being from around the area I rely solely on the information given via the booking site. When I had originally phoned him around 4pm that afternoon to say it was far further than originally stated he told me I should of done my homework! I asked if there was anything that could be done but no refund could be issued due to him turning a customer away half an hour before conveniently. He left us stranded with no where to sleep four hours away from our home in a busy place which was nigh on impossible to find somewhere else at that late hour to go. Happily took our money, was extremely rude and aggresive and my partner who is super soft got really angry and upset with him due to the way he spoke to us. No offer of leaving a door open for us, no flexibility due to the unexpected issues we encountered.  Absolutely appauling way to treat a customer especially when its obviously not their fault for the misunderstanding! Maybe it would be a good idea to ensure where he advertised his bnb that the information on that page is correct so customers dont end up in the same situation I did! 11-12 miles is very different to an hour and twenty minute drive!!!! Next day he marked me down as a no show on the booking when he was the one who refused me entry!! Rude Rude Rude and going by his responses to other unhappy guests maybe he should take a course in customer service or get someone to run the hotel who actually wants the business to succeed. I will be getting my money back!
