Stayed for 3 nights here and what a good choice we had made. The hotel is spotless, mine hosts are extremely polite, attentive and helpful. Many choices for breakfast and the food is cooked perfectly. Rooms are clean and comfortable,  I was in No 3 and was very pleased. Parking was easy as you are provided with a temporary resident permit, so we parked outside the hotel for free! Would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone.

What a lovely seaside retreat!! Spotlessly clean, excellent location and delicious breakfast what more can we say. We will definitely return if visiting Scarburough in the future. Many thanks to Vicky and Richard.

Had the pleasure of staying for the night at Sylvern house due to a concert at the open air theatre. The hotel is spotless and I really mean that. The room was well equipped and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was also very good and you are given a choice of what you can have also.

Richard the hotel owner made us feel at home as soon as we arrived and he is very friendly!

Small, cosy hotel with extremely friendly staff in a great location (right next to the beach), modern and clean rooms, good breakfast.

I used to stay at the Sylvern Hotel when I was going to the Wargames Holiday centre at Folkton near Scarborough fairly regularly. I haven't stayed for a few years but stayed there for four nights recently while seeing some friends. Richard the hotel owner was as friendly as ever. The room was reasonable with en-suite facilities. The breakfast was excellent with a choice of cereals, followed by a choice of various cooked items with a choice of crumpettes or toast to finish. The Sylvern isn't the cheapest bed and breakfast in Scarborough but I doubt you could get better value for money. It offers free WiFi although I found I needed to log on downstairs in the lounge as in my bedroom at the top of the hotel I struggled to log on. The hotel is located in North Bay but is only a short walk into town. When you stay they provide you with a parking permit that enables you to park on the street near the hotel which is in a controlled parking area.

Sylvern house is about a 15 walk from station, where you can get buses, and trains to York, Whitby, Filey,Bridlington and Robin hood bay there is a infomation desk with timetables. Richard was very friendly on my arrival and explained everything to me.
My room was small but clean and tidy, with all essentials tolietries, tea/coffee, hairdryer, free wifi, tv, you order your breakfast the day before. It is cooked by co host Vickie and is delicious. I liked the personal touch like remembering your name which Richard did. I met Vicky as i was leaving. A two minute walk to top off road is the sea.

A great place and i will recommend it and would love to come again.

Excellent stay!

I do not recommend this so called dog friendly  B and B .The host Richard  ( former army man I believe ) was very hostile towards me with a lack of understanding when my dog pulled me down the staircase as he didnt like noise of the quick  footsteps coming down the stairs .  Not a nice  man.
