We had an unbelievable lunch here. The Rye marsh lamb I had was undoubtedly the best lamb I have ever tasted thick, succukent, juicy. The sticky toffee puddings which all three of us chose were like wise the best ever - moist and swimming in sauce which is how it should be. Thee pub has great character, good beer and we were treated really well. Couldn't ask for more. Would come back any time (pity we live in Lancashire).

Staying in Rye for a couple of days, we were so impressed by our first visit here for lunch, we came back later for an evening meal. Great food, and a lovely atmosphere generated in no small part by the excellent staff. There was a good range of choice to suit all tastes, the food was fresh, well prepared, well presented and aboslutely gorgeous.

Just wanted to say a big thank you for our wonderful visit to your establishment.  The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful . The food is outstanding and nothing was too much trouble. Will be highly recommending your place to our friends and family to book.  The room was clean and quirky  and everything had been thought of including the brochure and map for visiting Rye . Nothing was too much trouble.  Thank you for a memorable stay ❤️

This old inn is in a great location and is a vibrant establishment.
The rooms are quirky and old but perfectly functional.
The outstanding feature is the team that run it. Young, enthusiastic and nothing is too much trouble.
I can’t recommend it highly enough.

What a great inn, we just stayed one night to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
All the rooms are named after local towns. we stayed in Hastings, small double.
All the rooms are full of old oak beams as the Inn dates back a few hundred years.
The bed was really comfortable and the room was warm. It had a small bathroom with shower, also very warm, all the fittings were excellent quality and the shower was brilliant, so all in all very pleased.
Breakfast was excellent, you could have what you wanted from a large choice of hot and cold, the hot all freshly cooked, one of the best we have had for many years.
So a big thank you to all the staff who were really helpful.

One last word about parking a car in the town, its all pay and display at around £1 an hour( in the streets or the public car parks) or £7 all day, from 8am to 7pm, no charge overnight. There are two other alternatives we understand they are the market car park and the station car park at around £2.50  a day.

To prepare a future visitor this is a pub with rooms , but it is very special. A lovely warm welcome easy checkin at the bar and then all room have such charm and character. 
Excellent amenities including Nespresso machine, water hairdryer and high quality bathroom amenities.
We also had dinner in the hotel which I would advise people to book in advance as it was full on a Monday night and all food was excellent.

Cute small hotel with cosy bedrooms, food was good too in the restaurant below.
Had room on the highest floor, funny way to get in there through tiny stairs but it all makes that fantastic atmosphere. Rye is a place that makes you feel it stopped in time ages ago. 

This small inn in the centre of Rye is in a lovely old timber-framed building and has just a handful of characterful rooms with good beds and and plenty of space.  Food is good quality pub fare with plenty of fish. Good choice of real ale.

The outside tables are in a yard at the back of the pub - nothing special in terms of ambiance but pleasant enough. Very friendly, efficient and relaxed staff.

We went for dinner and immediately knew we would like the place. The young staff gave us a warm welcome and from then on it was clear they are highly competent. You got the impression that within reason any request would be met. The place was packed out, and no wonder. Food was excellent - well cooked and full of flavour. Prices are very fair. When we next go to Rye we shall definitely go back to The Standard.

A lovely one night stay in beautiful Rye. As others have noted, the rooms are noisy during pub opening hours but it’s to be expected and didn’t hamper our stay - we managed to nap through it! We had a couple of drinks in the bar after returning from dinner and it was lovely and cosy, and clearly full of locals which I always take as a good sign. Once it hits midnight the whole place goes very quiet. Our room (Hythe) was lovely and both it and the bathroom were finished to a very high standard. Good shower too. We had lunch and dinner elsewhere in order to make the most of Rye, but the breakfast was excellent and the staff incredibly friendly.  I doubt you could find somewhere more central in order to explore Rye.  It’s not cheap, but nor is keeping a building of that age going, with such good fixtures and fittings.  Would definitely stay there again.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel, which is right in the middle of Rye. 

Others have said it was noisy, which it was, but only until about 10:30, so it didn’t interrupt our sleeping at all. 

The closest car park was 2-minutes walk away. 

Staff were all lovely and helpful. Evening meal was good and breakfast was OK. It wasn’t a cheap place, and it seemed a bit mean to be charged extra for an orange juice at breakfast, but that was our only complaint. 

We’d stay again.

Nice stay in a great location.

We enjoyed our one night break staying here, but we don't get away very often and we really liked being in the centre of Rye. We had the large room facing the street, which can be noisy, but we had been told it would go quiet at 11pm .. so we expected it, as they told us it is over the bar, which is very popular. The room had a beamed ceiling and was quite dark with a stand alone bath and "screen " provided! It was all charming and staff were friendly. The room was clean. Evening meal was excellent, even if we could hardly hear ourselves talk as the youngsters at the next table were SO loud.Breakfast in the bar the next morning was superb.

Quaint and charming Gem of a hotel in the heart of Rye

Amazingly friendly staff, really helpful and kind. They made our stay very pleasant. 

Clean rooms and bathrooms, we were in Hythe which was a large room. Great character to the room in keeping with the historic building. Lovely to have some toiletries too and teas and coffees from the bar (covid restrictions mean no facilities in room). 

Breakfast was plenty and included both continental and cooked. 

A couple of very minor notes: the floor is very wonky as you would imagine with such an old building so the bed wasn’t even and we did wake up sliding head first into the headboard; our room was very noisy as it was directly above the pub/restaurant (at times you can hear word for word) but as restrictions close the restaurant at 10, it’s quiet not long after that so sleeping is absolutely fine; there’s a lovely bath but no bath soap which would be a great touch; and it would be helpful to have more than one towel per person (for people with long hair!) 

Apart from that, a great stay.
